You would have thought that after 4 kids I'd remember but... when do they drop the morning nap?

my dd aged 9 months seems to be dropping it. I think this is early, but actually I can't remember at all what is normal. Can anyone illuminate me please? Ta

Think ds was about 18mo when he went from 2 to 1 naps, and he was 3 when he stopped having a nap altogether

Dd is 14mo and still can have 2 naps a day depending on what time she gets up in the morning, what time she eats and how busy she is

DS1 was still having an afternoon nap when he was 4! I expect he was well over 2. Can look in his diary if you really want to know.

DS2 is 16 months and has one long morning nap and sometimes a shorter afternoon nap depending on what we have been doing as we have to do the afternoon school run.

thanks everyone. yes, I think she is taking the piss a bit, I must sit her down and remind her that she is only 9 months old and NEEDS her morning nap as well as her 2hr afternoon one still.

not sure she will pay any attention to me though

I think they generally drop that morning one somewhere around 12 months. But, that probably means anywhere from 10 to 20 months.

Good luck with your chat.

DD was about 13 months when she went from 2 to 1 nap.

my lo has just gone from 2 naps (approx 9ish for 30-45 mins and 12ish for anything up to 2.5 hours) had a couple of weeks where he was sleeping 10-11 then 2ish for an hour, but it was difficult to get him to settle to take the second sleep because he wasn't tired enough but if he woke any later than 3ish it was hard to get him down at 7, so I bit the bullet and cut out the morning nap altogether, gave him his lunch early (11.30) and put him down at 12 and he slept fine and went down better that night. He has just gone 10 months now btw so was prob the same age as your lo when he started to show signs of dropping it, this seems young compared to the other posts on here but it works ok for us.

thanks for that firststeps. I put her down a little later for her morning nap and she slept well (woken by a poo).....
but then wouldn't sleep in the afternoon, spent about 20 minutes singing and throwing her toys out of her cot (literally!) and pulling her musical thingy so I gave up.

Hmmmmm. I really LIKE her having 2 naps a day, I will be Most Unamused if she is dropping one.
