Colic in six month old baby?

My little one has tended to suffer from colic since 3 weeks and is still waking during the night, sometimes every hour or so with what seems to be tummy pain, her legs going and crying. Breast feeing sometimes helps her but its horrible seeing her distressed. She is fine during the day. Attempted formula milk on three occasions but this made her worse and she vomited alot. She is now 25 weeks and have tried giving her a little bit of food, but she isn't keen at all, was hoping this might help her.
Pretty tired most of the time, any others had similar problem or have any tips. Have tried all known coilc medication, including colief with no success. Also tried massage , tiger in tree postion etc. Spoke to GP who has suggested some medication used in adults with irritable bowel syndrome. Thanks.

have you tried osteopathy?
her discomfort could be related to birth trauma

i'd tend to go by word of mouth, so it might be worth starting a thread for an osteopath in wherever you live and see if anyone on here had any recommendations

Thanks i go to a weekly group of new mums so I'll ask there and speak to the health visitors initially. It certainly sounds like it would be worth giving it a try.

Looby,Im in same area and there is an osteopath on Hull Road going towards Cottingham, just past the Hall Road/Fairfax Ave/Cottingham Road roundabout.Off top of head dont know name but pass it daily, will try to find out!!!

Have you excluded reflux as a cause/My dd had this for about 7 months, very sicky/windy unsettled.Eventually tried infant gaviscon which worked. Many sympathies as it is very distresing and tiring.DD settled at about 7 months.Hth

Only other thing I could think of is possible cows milk intolerance,re the formula, but would exclude other factors first.

Thanks, just seen your message have spoke to a man called shaun jennings who works in south cave and hull and am considering giving the cranial osteopathy a go with him. I also considered that she was intolerant to cows milk and wondered about soya but from looking stuff up there seemed to be concerns over soya milk. Just live in hope that she will be okay soon, think giving her some bits of food has unsettled her.

Hi.
My DS (25 weeks) also has had tummy pains in night from about 8 weeks. It is as if clearing bottom end wind is painful for him and wakes him up.
We have seen cranial osteopath and feel like it helps for a bit but then we need to go back. Seeing this has reminded me to book an appointment as DS got worse in night again. 3-7am is the graveyard slot!
Just want to sleep beyond 3am once more in my life!!

Definitely sounds like cows milk protein intolerance to me. My DD was exactly like this until we discovered at 15 weeks that this was the reason. Surprised that she is fine during the day though, as that is a bit inconsistent. I would recommend giving up eating all dairy products yourself (the protein passes through in breast milk) and don't give formula at all. Do this for 2 weeks and see if you notice a significant improvement. If you do then explain all of this to your GP, and ask for a prescription for Nutramigen or Neocate (hypoallergenic formulae). If you carry on breastfeeding (which is def the best thing if she does have allergies already) then you'll need to stay off dairy.

Try not to substitute with soya for your initial 2 weeks, as this allergy is also common in milk intolerant babies, but if you establish that dairy is the problem then you can try drinking soy yourself to check if she is ok with this.
