Hmmm, my 12mo ds has always been a horrible sleeper but is now at his best. He usually has about 12 hrs at night but only 1 during the day (and this is a vast improvement)

At 15 months, DD was sleeping about 13 hrs at night and 2 to 3 during the day.

actually, that is rather a lot isn't it? don't know any babies that sleep so much in the day. have you chatted to your HV about it?

went to health nurse, she said take him to doctor, doctor said he is sleeping cause he needs to. in the 4 hours he is awake he is as crazy as a coconut on the go all the time. but his weight has dropped 2 kilos in 5 weeks he is still in healthy weight range so doc doesnt care

2 kilos in 5 weeks! That sounds like a huge drop, when at this age they're now taking months to even pick up one kilo. To be honest, even though he may be within the range for his age, I would be inclined to persue it a bit further. Has he always slept like this, or only recently?

he has always been good sleeper but he sleeps as much as a newborn even more most days. its hard because everyone says be thankful he sleeps at all ect ect and this makes me feel like i am being paranoid. and the the doctor ever says is let him sleep but he woke up at 9 this morning(i puthim to bed at7) he was up for an hour and a half went back to bed and is still asleep it 2 in the afternoon and has only had an biscuit to eat. do i wake him to feed him or let him sleep ?????????

just read your all the thread, i would maybe speak to hv about his weight etc maybe something more than just over sleeping, try only letting him sleep for an hour in morning and maybe 2 in the afternoon, i would wake him for lunch etc, does he sleep if you take him out to toddler groups or a walk in his buggy? or is he quite alert when out and about?

tutter after reading full thread, i see he is having naps of 4hrs a day, def my dd didn't sleep this long, she would have an hour to an hour and a half in the morning, then she would sleep for 2hrs in the afternoon and still sleep 7-7! I think i would be waking him up jayjay

until last week and for at least the last 8 months my 2.5 year old DD was sleeping 12 hours at night and 4 hours during the day

as long as they're alert and happy and active and communicative when awake do not stress how long they sleep for

they know best how much they need and it is tiring work this growing lark

easy for you to say twigg - you don't have to get up at 5:30

a 2 kilo (4.4 lbs) weight loss in 5 weeks is really concerning though ... that bit I would definitely pick up on and get another dr's opinion ..
