I checked the threads and sites and books and frankly I've come to the conclusion...FunkyDude catches up on his sleep at least 3 times a week, so I'm going to stop worrying about this issue. He pushes my buttons when I want him to take a nap in the a/noon by protesting to the point where I give up (he is usually more successful about 3 days pre-AF) I just couldn't be arsed anymore. I will not soothe him to sleep, he is cranky, whining, and dolls out little kisses when I try and hold him to rock him to sleep; if not that he pulls my fucking hair!!!(Not to do to someone 3 days pre-AF).

So what am I going to do from now on?
I battled for 3 months and decided this is the end of the battle.
He gets to nap when he falls a sleep during the day, I will not force him to stay in his cot anymore, it only results in him playing in his cot for an hour and half. He catches up on his sleep every 3 days or so and has a good three hours sleep during the day. That has to be enough?

He seems to sleep better at night when he is dog tired, other nights he dreams and cries and do all sorts in his sleep, keeping me awake (I suppose that is me paying for the blissful three hour nap he had in the day).

Is there a miracle cure out there, will it change, will it get better am I hoping for something that will never happen?

Hey there Mum2FunkyDude,
My son is 7mo and only just starting to settle into a daytime nap routine. (We started cc a month ago, so that may have something to do with it)
He'll go down @9am for half hour or so and @1.30pm for up to hour and a half.....at times he is playing in his cot and not sleeping for the morning one but I just think, he's 'resting' and (more importantly, imo) I'm getting somewhat of a break too!!!! So maybe if Funky Dude's happy to do it that way,....let him!
Keep smiling, Kate

DS2 is 9mo next week. He slept for 45 minutes today. He sometimes has massive naps in the day, but he's a catnapper really.

He doesn't sleep well at night either.

If he was grumpy, I'd say it is affecting him. But he's not, he's incredibly cheerful. So I leave him to his "pattern".

And yes, it changes. About a year old, DS1 dropped his second nap and just had one long one each day. He was getting far more mobile then and slept far better in the daytime too.

He's 2.6 now and still naps well during the day!
