Windy Baby interrupting sleeping - 13 weeks old

My ds is 13 weeks..
Generally 60% of the time he is now sleeping from 6.45pm to 10.30pm and then I feed and he is down until 6.30 - 6.45am (I know that's quite lucky). BUT !! he still suffers from horrible wind and this seems to be the reason that he's waking the other times at 3 - 4am. He's always been a windy baby but I was hoping that by 13 or so weeks (he's now about 13lbs) that although he might still have wind that he may be getting better. Last night, he woke at 4am and it took me an hour of tummy massage, leg cycling, jiggling etc to get him off - eventually I took him into the spare bed with me, cuddled him to sleep and lay him down next to me on top of the duvet and he went off for until 7.30am. Poor thing really was in pain.
I am still using Infacol before each feed during the day. I use Dr Brown bottles. I've gone up to no 3 teat. At the early evening and 10.30 feed, I sometimes give him a 5ml spoon of gripe water to get the wind up after the feed. He's formula fed Aptamil.
Anyone else have a baby who still suffered from wind (badly) at this stage which interrupted seemingly fairly good sleep patterns. Should I give the gripe water after the feed if I've given Infacol before ??
Any tips welcomed
Thanks

We had a very very windy baby. When he was a few months old we tried him on some good bacteria. Solgar ABCdophilus is a good one. It's not cheap but it lasts for ages and its worth it. you get it in good health shops (i dont think places like holland and barrett do it).

it comes in a tasteless powder. you add quarter teaspoon to water or formula, either in his bottle or from a spoon. the handiest way is to add it to the last bottle he has before bed, add it to the bottle just before he is going to drink it (not while the formula is still hot).

It helps them to digest the lactose in milk better. It was a godsend for us. the first night he had it we had our first good nights sleep, no wind, trapped or otherwise.

Would we be ok to do this now ?? at 13 weeks. I have lots of allergies and stuff and I think a mild intolerance to dairy (too much cheese not a good thing) so wouldn't be surprised if this was the case. Thanks for the advice

I had the same problem with dd, we were advised by hv to try colief (I had already tried infacol to no avail) colief costs about £10 but worked for me. I gave dd a smaller dose than recommended as I found she followed through every time she broke wind, which wasn't pleasant. I started off putting 2 drops in every other feed, then I cut it down to 2 drops in her mid morning feed. Still working. Good luck

Our dd1 was exactly the same. We tried Dr Brown's bottles and colief, but in the end she needed lactose-free milk. Horrible stuff, smells like boiled cabbage but she finally got relief and some sleep (they are in so much pain with it, aren't they?) At about 5 or 6 mo she moved to aptimil, it didn't last forever. Has he had a cold or tummy bug? It was snot in her tummy that started it for dd1.

I'd give the colief a try and if that fails try the SMA Lactose-free milk. You have to order it from a pharmacy or your gp may give you a prescription for it (ours wouldn't as she was only intolerant, not allergic ) You are supposed to get your gp's or hv's advice before giving it - ours said, try it if you want to so we did.

omneo by cow and gate is spposed to be brilliant combined with dr brown bottles and faster teats as its thicker.thats what i was recommended after both mine had severe colic/constipation.its got a lot less lactose in it.dont know exact figures but sma etc had 7 something and omneo has 2.my next one will be on it from birth with dr browns.

it really is horrible.i wish you all the best and god luck with whatever you try.whateer you try it will take a couple of days to get into the system so dont try for 1 day and assume its not woring.give it a few days
