Sleep

9mo waking every 40 mins

DS, who turned 9 months old one week ago, is suddenly waking every 40 mins in the early part of the night, then every two to one hours for the rest of the night and the wake ups are looong, twice this week I have had to sit with him for two hours waiting for him to go back to sleep (screams if I leave the room). He was previously waking just once at maybe 2an for a quick feed then straight back to sleep til morning. We went through a phase at 4months of him waking hourly which nearly destroyed me. Is this another regression? How long will it last? And how do I get through? Going back to work soon so need to sort it out!!

We used Sian at //www.sleepbabies.co.uk with a similar issue. We reduced milk over a period of two weeks, taking him off before he fell asleep, placed in cot-shushed and patted until asleep. After two weeks-stopped milk and just sat next to the cot and sshushed. Took 4 days after stopping milk to sleep through- she advised to do it slowly so we could slowly reduce his appetite in the night. Life changing.. Try it. Good luck

My 9 month old has been doing this. Two weeks - fingers crossed we're coming out the other side - still not back to where we were but slightly fewer wake ups and getting shorter. I've probably jinxed it now and naps have been awful today! There is a 9/10 month regression and seems like long wakes in the night are common!
