NEVER sleeps!!!!!

My Ds is 9.5 months, he used to be a reasonably decent sleeper (1 wake up) but for the past 3 weeks that's gone out of the window, now he hardly sleeps at all.

He used to take 3 naps a day 1 hour in the morning, just over an hour at around 1 and then 30 ish minutes around 4. Bed time routine of bath, story, bottle and happily off to sleep at 7.

Now he fights his naps. Even if I put him down as he is falling asleep on my knee! He wakes up after 20 mins max. During the night he takes over an hour to settle, then wakes up crying every couple of hours. I or my husband can go in and settle him, and two minutes later he will cry again. We tried an extra bottle, all combinations of bedding and clothes. We do leave it 2/3 minutes as he used to settle himself but now goes apoplectic if we leave him any longer. We have tried baby nurofen/calpol because he is cutting his top two teeth.

He isn't crawling yet, but is clearly frustrated by his lack of mobility. We often find he's contorted himself into some really weird positions in his cot, he's a very big boy so he does get wedged in. Even when he isn't in an odd sleeping position he will wake constantly and varies between very loud crying and a loud whine.

I know I'm probably being PFB but I took him to the Dr to check for any ear infections or illness that might be contributing to his waking but was told it's "developmental" and will stop when he can move! Does anyone have any experience of this? Can anyone give us any idea of ways to help him? Dh and I are both back at work and exhausted!!! TIA
