Im hoping someone can suggest something I haven't tried yet. I have 12 Wk old twins and I haven't been to bed in 7 wks. They did great for the first few wks and slept well then gradually started struggling with passing wind and became more and more unsettled. They quickly got to the point where they couldn't lie down without waking up in pain. I've tried all colic stuff I can, I've changed milk etc etc. Now the only place they will sleep is in bouncy chair or carseat it seems to be the only position they can sleep, but there still not completely settled wriggling constantly to pass wind. I no car seats / chairs are not meant to be used for long periods of time but it's the only way I get any sleep and by sleep were talking about 3 hrs broken sleep. I've had 2 other dcs who've been the same and eventually grew out of it by about 18 months, I can't do that again. I am out of ideas can anyone help????? Strangely dd1 was the only 1 who never suffered and slept from 8wks still is the best sleeper but I don't understand why she was any different.

My first son could only sleep sitting up and I did not sleep until a week after his first birthday.

We now know that it was the milk - he is dairy intolerant and the dairy was creating excess mucus which he was basically 'drowning' in once flat on his back.

It may not be this but worth looking into.

My Ds was like this he would only sleep in his reclining high chair for years Blush
I used to give him colic drops before he went to sleep which did help though not all the time .
have you tried propping the end of the cot up with a pillow under the matress (i had to do this with my Ds from birth due to asthma) when he did sleep in his cot this helped a lot with the trapped wind as well .

Sorry I'm not much help & it must be even worse with twins , I hope you manage to get some sleep soon

Thanks for the replys, were just starting on gaviscon to check for reflux before we look at intolerances.
I've tried all types of colic drops and milk, some made them worse but nothing made them better.
Propping up cot makes no difference as it's the more up right seated position that works.
Co sleeping worked for a short time but I'm too tired to try it again, I just don't trust myself to be able to do it.
Fingers crossed something crops up that will work, poor things can get themselves so wound up and overtired

I see what you're saying about being more seated, but you can buy wedges and a stretchy material that keeps them in place, but it sounds like you need to be persistent with the gp to try and figure out what the issue is, eg silent reflux or milk allergy etc.

I feel your pain, anxiety & frustration.

My baby has only just started to sleep better at night (12 weeks old at 00:50. Prior to this he only slept in his rocker for 45-60 minute periods (maximum 3x a night). Days are still challenging as he will only nap on my knee (not in his rocker).

The nights have improved since we started infant Gaviscon on the 6th August 14. Initially the Gaviscon made him constipated so I do bicycle legs with him (as often as he will let me), massage his tummy (morning & evening) & offer him water (only a couple of sips a day - no more than an ounce - he's not keen so I give it to him before his bottle of formula). His stools are paste like or soft sausage like now he's taking Gaviscon but not hard & he opens his bowels daily or every other day. The Gaviscon has reduced his sickness between feeds but he is still quite sick during the day but not at night. We also purchased a Clevamama ClevaSleep Positioner from kiddicare which makes him feel snug & secure in his cot. You can't swaddle if you use this and you need to make sure the sides are snug around their body or they will slide down as they wriggle (my baby wriggles a lot). He doesn't like to be swaddled or placed in a wrap/rigid sling.

I think you have posted on my thread. Im the mum struggling with my husband working nights. So thank you for your support & I hope your twins settle soon.
