Sleep

Epic fail getting 10 month old in cot.

Total nightmare. 10 month old has been going down fine in cot with side off for a month. We've stopped feeding to sleep, we co sleep part way through the night.

So yesterday the side went on the cot, usual solid bedtime routine, into cot. I have taken advice from a sleep professional. None of their predictions or 'usual' case scenarios appeared here.

Cue 4 hours of crying, screaming, hysterics, sick, roaming up and down cot, reaching over the side trying to grab me......awful, awful, awful. He was soothed, never left alone.

End result, terrible night followed, half the sleep he usually gets, we're knackered. It's going to be a tough day.

Please don't flame me, I go back to work on shifts soon and this NEEDS to be resolved.

Any advice? How did you get your co sleeper into the cot? Should we try cc? DH is fucking hopeless so it's just me to sort this. HV told me CIO was the only way.

Please help, he's been an truly horrific sleeper since birth. Just recently things improved, now it feels like I'm wrecking it all again. I am near desperation now.

hi cake I'm sorry this isn't sorted. if I were you I'd persevere tonight same as last night, staying near and soothing but not picking up. did you still cosleep part way through? I'd stop that as it'd be confusing. a friend was in the similar situation, thought dd would never manage it. nights 1&2 awful like you. night 3 slept 7-5. good luck

also what are you doing for naps? I think it helps if you're consistent as much as possible. I wouldn't let him sleep on/with you, use the buggy if you just need him to get some sleep. hope someone can give you a break today

Hi keep he never made it to sleep in the cot. I couldn't t take anymore by midnight. His room was 29 deg, we were both sweating & exhausted. He came in with me & was asleep in 5 mins.

Advice I've had is to leave naps how they are for the time being.

We'll try again tonight.
