I fear I'm going to be back here, if you'll have me of course...not regression as such anymore, but the lasting effects of coping with it. Need to put an end to the co sleeping before returning to stupid horrible work that ruins everything Sad

Co sleeping is covering a multitude of wakings I think and ds happily snuggles into me all every night. God knows how we're going to crack this Confused

I'm glad to see this, was lurking before. DS is just 5 months and for the past month has either refused to go down or generally woken every 45 mins or less. Doing NCSS and we can at least now put him in his cot, just need him to stay asleep now! Not sure how to get him to self settle as always goes to sleep when feeding. I'm shattered!

Well I have to say good news here (albeit about time & probably a one off & not really that good for a nearly 6mo but good by our standards!) First wake here was much earlier than normal at just before 9 - he took 5oz formula went back off easily until midnight (wait that's not the good bit hehe) he then settled again just after 1 & slept til just before 6 this is a miracle nearly 5 hours in one go!!!! Could it have been the parsnip & carrot purée that also has sedative effects- tiredemma ask your DP for me?! Wink

Great news Boo! We had two brilliant nights with 1 short wake up each, but last night was horrendous and Ds is really grumpy today. Hope he's a bit better tonight as I'm off out to catch up with my friends. Will drive to avoid wine temptation, just in case Ds is unsettled again.

Ooh good a new thread!
We're still on the 'no two nights the same' streak at the moment.
DS's nappy rash is clearing up but I'm taking him to the doctor today to ask about the ridiculously frequent pooping and the fact it's so mucousy (excuse tmi). The HV I saw yesterday said it's very likely due to the teething but to keep an eye on him and go to docs if I was still concerned. As it's now Friday I didn't want to risk things getting worse over the weekend.

In terms of his sleep, last night was OK in the overall context of the last 8 weeks. He did his usual wake up half an hour after bedtime, but then slept from about 8.45 til 2.15. I fed and changed him (no poo, hurrah!) and he slept from 2.45 til 5.20, when he woke up ravenous (but poo-free again). We took to the spare bed and he fed on and off til about 8.30.

Glad to hear things are better for you Boo

Meant to say emma - yes I had read about your nighttime banana when I was lurking Smile I will give it a try in a few weeks!
Rubbish night here and up at 6 too for good measure

Hello everyone. Had been lurking on the old thread. We're still having plenty wake ups. DD2 now 7 months. As I discovered with DD1, weaning makes no difference, DD2 still enjoying nighttime snacks! We're co-sleeping from the 11pm/midnight wake as it means everyone gets a reasonable night.

Booville3 · 28/02/2014 20:15

Well I hope everyone has a decent night ahead of them!!! Isn't it awful when you dread the nighttime?! So far so good here ds down just after 7 with no fuss & still asleep, everything crossed!! Good luck ladies stay strong!

Tiredemma · 28/02/2014 21:06

Noisy- is the mucousy nappy quite 'acidic' smelling?- if so then its teething related. DD has been the same.

Report
Booville3 · 28/02/2014 21:17

To be honest maybe I should have taken ds to docs as his nappies have been mucousy for weeks now I just thought it was a breast feeding stool?? He has had slow (but consistent) weight gain - what did the doc say noisy??

Were still waiting for our appt about ds's "birthmark" I think this is another reason why I can't do any form of CIO/cc as I still worry that he is definitely ok!

How do cakeis Grin

Oh what fresh hell do we have now FFS? random screamy crying awakenings for no apparent reason. Seems to be crying in his sleep, waking himself and then screaming presumably as he has no idea why he's crying, but carries on anyway. Why the hell not, once you've started....!

For the long time ladies on here...I think the fresh hell (like that saying cake :-) is caused by teething. Dd has the acid poo mentioned earlier by Emma and has been dribbling lip smacking and chewing everything for weeks.
On top of that I have decided that we aren't in regression any more, dd is today coming out formally as a shite sleeper.
My name is cakedd and I am a crap sleeper.
I think she is shaping up like ds1 which means I have months more of this..

NoisyBrain · 01/03/2014 10:17

Tired , Boo the nappies have been ranging from acidic to really mucousy smelling

The doctor thinks there has been a 'perfect storm' of teething, change in diet (ie. weaning) and possibly a touch of a tummy bug. She checked DS over and all was fine. His poopage also started to improve yesterday. Although there were a couple of iffy nappies later on, they weren't as bad as before and there were slightly fewer overall. Also they were starting to look like the output of a baby eating solids rather than caramel slime (nice).

I had him weighed on Thursday and he'd dropped down the centiles a little, which I guess he would after shitting through the eye of a needle for days! The HV wasn't worried though.

I don't want to speak too soon but I think we might have settled into a pattern of two wake ups per night, it's just that the times vary wildly! Last night it was 10.30 and 4.10. Oh and 5.55 but I count that as morning haha. Watching this space...

PS. DP thinks I've lost the plot as I actually cheered this morning when a nappy change revealed healthy looking contents.

On the subject of weight, thought I'd just share this with you, particularly the newer joiners with dc around 4-5 months. My ds was waking every hour or so at around 4.5-5.5 months and taking big feeds. I was convinced he wasn't hungry and it was just the 4 month regression. It was hellish and I felt like I was losing my mind. Nothing I did helped: fed more in day etc. I had him weighed last week & in a 5 week period he gained nearly 3lb and grew an inch. He WAS hungry. It was a massive growth spurt as well as regression. Nothing I could have done about it so I'm glad I just went with it and I lost a stone on a chocolate based diet Sleep is better now, not perfect, but not hourly wakings anymore!

HTH someone!

Thanks cake - though he's still produced 4 or 5 already today! Hoping it slows down soon Confused

Interesting point about the night feeds. My DS always seems genuinely hungry when he wakes at night, albeit not every hour. This is one of the reasons why I haven't rushed to try and sleep train and in fact the sleep lady told me not to until solids are well established. You have to wonder what already 'trained' babies do at that age - do they not go through the same phase and wake more? Or do they just become more efficient at feeding in the day because they know they won't get fed at night and therefore they stay asleep? I'm genuinely interested.

3lbs in 5 weeks is amazing! I think my LO did about half that over the same age range.
