why and how did you know she/he was ready?

as my DD is 21m and no problems at all being in her cotbed so do i leave it as a cotbed for now (meaning keep the rail up) BUT she does move around alot in her sleep!

My ds was also nearly 3. He didn't ever climb out, or even try to, so he stayed there until 2.9, when we went on holiday and he had a bed in the caravan. When we came back we converted cot to bed, and he very rarely got out- fast forward a year and he always thinks up an excuse to get out!

DD went from her cot to a toddler bed at 18 months. She hated her cot prior to that so we gave the bed ago and for us it was a great decision.

DD is 16 months and we moved her a few weeks ago. Her bed is very low though and she doesn't actually spend that much time in it (still mostly in ours). We keep the mattress off her cot by the side in case she falls out of bed but no accidents so far.

DS is 2.4 and he's still got the sides up.

He climbed out the other day though so going to take the sides off at the weekend.

Dreading it tbh!

It was earlier this year. It must have been around Feb/March time I think so she will have been 2.4/5.

She was rattling on the sides of the cot every morning making a real racket and she also manage to climb out on a couple of occasions.

The first 2 weeks were hard but she loves it now and shes never fallen out of it.

DS was about 2.3 and we took the sides off the day he went head first over them ! His first night in the bed he fell out and we found him asleep on the floor in the morning so now he has a bed guard too.

BLs ds was 12mths when I moved him but only due to trying to vault over the sides...with dd dont think it will be that quick..as long as she will stay put although will need cot for baby.

Probably at around the age of 2.5 or so. Went from cot to the cotbed bit at about 2, maybe a bit less. Actually it might have been nearer to 3 going from cotbed to big bed.

I think they're ready when they start rolling around too much and need a bit more room.

Last Saturday!

He went into an extendable bed with guard rails so it still feels quite enclosed.

Bit of a strange couple of nights - think he was a bit scared and he'd never had a pillow before, but he loves it now. Even naps as long as he used to in it (for now...!).
