Poll: does your 10/11 month old sleep through the night?

... DD doesn't and just wondering how normal it is and whether there is anything we are "doing wrong".

In short she wakes 1-2 times and I bf her and she goes back to sleep.

Is this relatively normal at this age? Will this stop by itself? Is there anything we can do to help her sleep through? Don't want to do cc as we are not desperate, but think it would be better for her, and for me as I go back to work, if she started sleeping through.

Any tips welcome!!

My DD wasn't sleeping through at that age, she was waking 3 times. Now she's 14 months and still wakes once. I bf too. We are just at the stage of trying to get her into a cot. As she has been sleeping in bed with me.
If you are ok with your situation then no need to change anything is my philosophy - if you start to resent it & are unhappy then is the time to take action!

Echo what jetstar said.

Its completely normal. At 10mths we slowly moved her into cot and she came into bed when she needed to.

At 20mths Shes recently started sleeping through the odd night.

My DS is 10 months and still wakes 1-2 times a night. He's always slept in a crib/cot next to me.

My elder three DCs were between 12-18 months before sleeping through.

If its not a problem for you or your DD then carry on as you are.

Completely normal. Neither of mine were sleeping through at that age (both between 12 and 18 months) and my experience of friend's children seems to suggest most are not sleeping through at this age either.

My DD is 13 months and not sleeping through. I think it's pretty normal and am relatively relaxed about it, but everyone I know RL is shocked she is not. It's a bit tiring, but you do get used to it don't you?!

10 months bf dd wakes at least twice between 730 and 7am. Usually more like 4 times. Never less than twice though.

My dd is 9 mo doesn't fit your poll, but wanted to come in and say normal is so wide that lots of wakings and sleeping through are both normal. They will get it eventually, the key is whether your dd's sleep is acceptable to you or not. It sounds like you are fine with bfing to sleep 1-2 times, so leave things as they are until dc changes herself or you decide you want to try to change. My 9mo's sleeping pattern wasn't workable for me, so we are successfully doing gradual retreat and she now sleeps through.

Just re read your post and maybe you do want to change things. Read the thread entitled sleepless night month old, at my wits end to read what I did with dd.
(Sorry no link, an crap at technology)

Blush hadn't read previous answers which all said if you are ok leave things. Must read whole thread in future.

We're a bit younger here too (8 1/2 months). Just wondering - do you do a dreamfeed? I know it's not everyone's preference but it has really worked for us: we do bedtime feed at 7:15ish, then a dreamfeed around 10:30 and she sleeps through til 7am.

Thanks everyone. I'm really pleased that at least it is quite normal - I get quite a few comments / expressions of surprise in real life about this, particularly the bf bit.

I would describe myself as being "ok" with the current situation - not unhappy enough to try any sort of cc but I anticipate some exhausting months as I got back to work and also we are TTC number 2. So would be nice to get some proper rest.

I think we might see if there are little things we can do - getting DH a bit more involved in settling her at bedtime / night perhaps.

PP we tried dream feeds a while back and while the feeds themselves worked beautifully (she barely woke up), they then did not make any difference to the number if night wakings! That was a few months ago though.

10 mo here feeding at 3am and 6am when she gets in the bed with me and sleeps until big brother comes to wake us after 8am.

I'm going back to work at 13 months though and things must change by then as I can't do my job on broken sleep. So, I think I'll be doing some kind of controlled crying in a couple of months' time Sad.

Mine does (10 months) and has for about a month now, but it was a happy accident - we didn't do anything specific. They'll figure it out on their own

(And no guarantee it won't go tits up at some point in the future)

11 mo here and only sleeps through if we cosleep. As I a, back at work cosleeping the only solution so I can function in the daytime.
He occasionally wakes even o sleeping but since 7 months only needs a cuddle (or water when its been v hot) to get him back off).
We side carred our cot to give us all more space.

I've been back at work 3 months, I work two nightshifts a week so on those two nights I don't get any sleep at all. The bonus of that is I feel lucky the other 5 nights, even if she wakes 5 times..... But I look very old now Blush

Mine does, he has done for a few months now (unless he's ill / we're away from home). But out of 8 babies of a similar age in my NCT group, there is only one other who does. And I know it could all go wrong at any time! We never sleep trained, he just figured it out by himself, and I'm very aware of how lucky we are.

Neither of mine did at that age.

2yo still doesn't.

Yes our 10m old does and has been for about a month or two. Not 100% reliable but probably 5 nights out of 7. Our 2.5 yr old has been reliably sleeping though since roughly the same age.

When DS was 10/11mo, he was waking 6-10 times per night, every single night, and I was back at work full time. Nearly had a complete breakdown. Tried round 4 of sleep training a month ago and we got a couple of blissful weeks of 7pm til about 4:30am most nights. Now he's back to minimum of three wake-ups a night, although last night it was five. Perfectly normal for a 13mo. Apparently. Hmm
