A little worried about my 3 year old...

Hi, I'm hoping someone might tell me this is normal so I can stop worrying about him! I have a fit and active DS, good appetite, sleeps well etc. he is 3y 1m. He stopped daytime naps 7 months ago when DS2 arrived. In past month or so however, he has started taking himself upstairs during the day saying he's tired, and he'll have a really long nap- he'd sleep for hours if I didn't wake him. He woke at 7.30 this morning and by 10.45 he had gone back upstairs, and he's currently snoring away. He's also been pretty whiny which maybe just comes with the age but seems tired a lot of the time, hence whingey etc. should I be a bit worried? I suppose I'm concerned as he gets a good 12 hours at night so why does he suddenly seem so tired again... I guess I'm worried about an underlying reason for tiredness.
Anyone with a similar experience? Or any views? Thanks in advance

I would take him to the GP.

Just bumping to see if anyone else has experience of similar before I contemplate going to the doctors... Actually a lot less worried this eve and thinking is maybe just a developmental phase, perhaps I was being a little neurotic before...!?

Funny. I could've written your post. My ds is the same age. He dropped daytime sleeping about 12 months ago but has reinstated them over the past few weeks. He does get up painfully early mind, so I think that's something to do with it along with humidity/warmer weather being slightly more wearing and us being out and about more. See the dr if you're concerned though.
