Hi
My 13 month old eats well in the day but wakes up between 4-5am for a feed. I usually give her 4oz and she then sleep s till 7. I wanted to ask, is the usual for her age and do your babies do the same ? Thanks for any replies x

Normal! It's a long time to go without food or drink and it sends them back to sleep so all good.

Hi creatureretorts, thanks for Your reply , my hv was horrified when I
Told her as she counts that time as night and said she shouldn't really need it as she eats well in the day .....

Not that unusual, but I bet you would also be surprised how quickly she stopped waking then if you just stopped feeding her then. Would prob take about 2 or 3 days. Short term pain I know, but long term gain ;-)

Not feeding didn't work with mine! It just became the new wake up. It is technically morning. So I go with the easy option.

I know , I'm petrified of ignoring her for too long and then 4-5 am being her wake up time .... I don't actually mind it if she stays asleep from when she goes to bed but thought it was only my dd doing this especially at her age and having 3 fair meals a day

Mine does exactly the same. I keep worrying that I need to do something about it, but it is so much easier just to feed her some milk! And then go back to sleep for a couple of hours!

She hasn't got a set routine. When she is at nursery, she has milk with us in the morning, snack at 9.30 with cup of milk, lunch at 12 followed by sleep anything from 30 mins to 2 hours, snack after sleep with milk, tea at 4pm and then usually a snack after nursery. She then has a bedtime bottle of formula which she drinks variable amounts of, and time between about 6pm and 7.30pm. She usually wakes in the night for some more milk at totally random times. Non nursery days are different, usually very long morning sleep, shorter pm nap, and loads of food in between. She loves her solids. On occasion she sleeps through. On occasion she wakes up several times!

My 16mo does this - wales any time from 4-5.30am and a drink of milk sends her back over. We just leave the bottle woth her, rather than get her up for a feed, and she drinks it and goes back to sleep.

We are slowly mixing it with water (she now has two oz milk mixed with 3oz water(, in the hope that she will eventuallystop wanting it when its just water.

I do feel reassured that my dd isn't the only the only one getting up at 5am
