Sleep

can you recommend a swaddle blanket for my little Houdini newborn?!

DS (nearly 4 weeks) sleeps much better swaddled, but he's far too good at getting out of it. We're currently using a portion of sheet that we used to wrap his sister in when she was a baby, but she generally stayed wrapped whereas he manages to get his arms out about 3 times a night! I've tried leaving his arms out in case he wants them to self soothe, but that just seems to wake him up and make him flail around. Most swaddling blankets I've seen just look like ordinary blankets, so I wondered if anyone has found one that's really effective? TIA!

Woombie. Impossible to escape from due to handy zip up feature!

We use this although DD3 has almost grown out of it at nearly 4 months... She has rarely escaped though!

The GroBag swaddle makes it easy to get a secure swaddle, so if the problem is that the wrap just isn't that good in the first place then that could help. It is easy because it is shaped and because it has a bit of stretch in the fabric.

We also loved the swaddle pod by summer. My best buy that was.

Miracle blanket. It is impossible to get out of and you can do as loose or firm a swaddlee as your baby likes. We used this with DS until he was 5 months old!

We used the Summer ones as well... But she did work out how to get out of it when she was about 12 weeks old, she'd lift up a knee to make a gap then wiggle her hand through to get the Velcro. Was funny. But really annoying. We would have got the Wombie ones if I'd known about them at the time!

learn how to so then when it gets warm you don't have to worry about over heating as you can use a large muslin. My DS is 7 months and still is swaddled this way and he only gets out of it now and again.

I had a choice between Woombie and Bug in a Rug. Both lovely and practical but I could take only one.Chose babyrug because of legs-was travelling a lot and this blanket works brilliantly in a car seat and sling.
