14mo only 1 hour lunch nap

dd is 14mo and is only having a 1hr - 1hr 10mins nap per day at midday.

She used to nap 1 hour 10-11am and then 2.30-3.30. It then got more and more difficult to get her down at 2,30 and was often more like 3/3,15, I then had to wake her at 4 so she would go to sleep at bt.

Now though she is only having this 1hr 10mins nap and I'm worried it's not enough. She sleeps between 11.5 and 12 hours at night.

I'm not sure if this is enough overall or what I can do about it.

Any advise? Has your 14mo been similar?

Mine is exactly the same, think it is just the next stage with sleep.

I miss when he was younger and had 3 naps a day!!

DS has had a 1hr nap around midday since he was about 14 months, he's just turned 2. I would say if she's happy then don't worry, you'll know if she needs more by her behaviour.. Not that you can do much about it if she has other ideas IME at least Sad
I am starting to find DS needs his nap a little later these days and will occasionally sleep for over 2 hours, sometimes only 45 minutes but I spent so much time worrying about his naps when he was younger (and now doing the same with DD) - that as long as he's happy I try and go with the flow. I do encourage rest time if he's getting cranky though and he's starting to get better at telling me he needs it. The no cry nap solution has a chart on amounts of sleep needed at each age, I think iirc your DD is doing about right overall

ThanksGrey and Nice.

It's good to know that others have dcs that are similar as all I seem to hear is dcs of similar ages have 2-3 hours as wellas sleeping 11-12 hours at night.

As you saycup even if dd is miserable come pm, there's not a lot I can do about it if she has other ideas than sleep.

Can you either nap her earlier in the morning for 45 mins or just have one nap?

My dd (14 months) has a morning nap of 45 mins and a 2/2.5 hour pm nap plus 12 hours at night. She's very active.

Ds had 45 mins AM nap and 90 mins PM nap and about 11 hours overnight. Also very active but I think overtired as we put him to bed a bit too late.

Mine was the same, great sleeper at night but shorter naps which she dropped much earlier than all her peers

Dd was the same when we dropped to one nap (around the same age) though eventually she did lengthen the nap out to closer to two hours. It just depended really she would have 1-3 sleep cycles. Now we are cutting naps completly well every other day at two as she no longer needs them.

I was just trawling about to see if anyone was going through the same thing as me, so I am very pleased to see this thread!

My DD is 14 months and has previously been very consistent with going down for 2 good naps a day. She still usually wants to take her morning nap but really struggles to go down for her afternoon one, despite being clearly tired. She does still sleep well at night but the afternoon is not very fun with a grumpy and overtired baby!
