Hello

Ds is 21m, he always been really good with his routine, until now

He went from 2 naps to one at about 12m - so his sleep routine was like this from 12m
7.30-8am ...up
12pm until 2pm ...nap
7pm...bed he'd always sleep right through perfectly

but at about 17m, when I took him up for his daytime nap he was taking longer and longer to go to sleep and then not sleeping at all. If he had a later nap or even a nap at all he'd play up at night and be wide awake in his cot until around 10pm

Also if he ever gets overtired he'll sleep at night but just wake up crying every so often as if he can't sleep properly cos he's too tired IYSWIM

Anyway, he managed all this time without a sleep in the day (TBH, not sure he'd go back to one easily now) but now (last 3 days)is waking at around 9am - having no nap (or a tiny one in car/pushchair) then bed at 6pm cos he's tired. But is not sleeping properly at all, he's like I described above when he's overtired. He's really wingey and wakes up crying every so often until about 1am!

It probably seems worse cos I'm used to him always being so good:)

I'd be grateful for any advice........what would you do about a daytime nap?

I'm prepared to get up and get him up at whatever time you say in the morning and stick to any routine so if you think something might work let me know:)

TIA

Could he be teething or coming down with a cold? There are molars due round about this age and there are a lot of bugs going about. Have you tried giving pain relief (calpol, nurofen) at bedtime to see if that makes any difference. At this age they cant really tell if they feel bad or their mouth hurts so may be something to think about.
