Sleep

DD2 wants to co-sleep but we don't!

She keeps getting in with us in the middle of the night. Then she sleeps like a starfish spread out in the middle of the bed.
Screams blue murder if you put her back.
Suggestions on how to convince her that mummy and daddy's bed is not a good place for her?

Maybe a bit young for sticker charts etc.

Well, the only thing i would do in your situation is to just keep getting up and putting her back in her own bed.

If she stays in her bed all night praise her to the hilt.

It will be hard work the first couple of nights but she'll give up eventually. My DD started to do this at one point. But consistently putting her back worked.

With no discussion except to say "YorkieDD2 sleeps in this bed, not Mummy & Daddys bed"

Also if she goes back to her bed with little fuss - praise her for doing it nicely.

Dont just say no.

Im guessing that eventually you give in and she gets to stay in your bed though?

she knows you will eventually let her in... which is why she does it!

get dh on your side. pick a night and just do it. sit outside her room and every time she gets to the door take her straight back to bed.

Just keep putting her back. It will be hard work and tough for a couple of nights but she only keeps trying because she knows it gets her somewhere.

As soon as she realises she wont get somewhere with it she will stop bothering.

Stick at it and get your DH to too Smile

what about putting her bed in your room for a bit? Maybe it's a period of separation anxiety or other insecurity, this might help tackle the insecurity after which she will be happy to go back to her own room as opposed to "having" to? Then also at least you will have your sleeping space back!
