Hes been ill for 2 weeks and his big teeth at the front have come through but i dont seem to be a ble to break the habit of his waking up. Hes never slept through and is breats fed. he doesnt eat that well and gets constipated. So not much luck. Both myself and dh are knakered we havent had a full night sleep since ds was born. he is also not gaining weight well as has allergy to milk eggs so fattening up food limited. Am still feeding him when he wakes as think at least its a few more calories but maybe i should stop. Anyone else been through this. can let him cry for 20 mins max and depends on what type of cry hes giving us. any advice greatfully recieved not so keen on pupd as im sure i would be there all night.

This sounds so familiar! DD is 9.5 months and we are going through the same. We too are knackered and she has never slept through either. I did try stopping the feeds at night time but she just woke more frequently so i figure she's waking due to hunger. We dont let her cry as she just keeps going! Tried the pick up put down but i find i'm in her room with her for 1.5 hours at a time - which is even more exhausting.

Sorry cant help but you're not alone!!

Hi, I could have typed your message. DS (8½ months) is allergic to eggs, milk and wheat amongst other things so we are very limited with his diet as well. Was advised by dietician to get more cereal into his diet (rice, oats, rice pasta etc) to make him less hungry at night and it seems to be working. Well he only fed twice last night instead of 3/4 times. Have also started doing pupd today to stop the breastfeeding to sleep so will see how it goes. Have a feeling we're in for a long night. Hugs, you're not alone.

I dont have the worry about the diet issues. DD can and will eat anything. She has a really big appetite. At first i thought (hoped) that this was just a phase or a growth spurt or something - but its been going on for as long as i can remember. DD has her top front teeth coming thru so it may be worse at the moment because of that.

A friend has two DDs and said that they both started sleeping thru after they started walking - I guess because they wear themselves out?

Hang in there ...

hi all - we were here when our DS was 9 months - he too had not yet "slept" through and things were just getting worse and worse

We tried the more feed, pick up put down, etc etc - in the end, in desparation, we bought Richard Ferber's sleep problem book - and after three nights, our DS was sleeping 7.30 pm to 6.30 am (he is not 16 months old)

I highly recommend this book, as it describes lots of different problems and really truly did help us

I try to find the link and post it
