Me again, Im going to go insane if we dont start having more sleep. Over the last 6 nites we have cut out bfeeds to help Saac eat during the day. He continues to wake every couple of hours takes ages to go back to sleep still isnt eating and is waking up at 4 am and screaming no matter how we try to comfort him until he is given a feed. ARG! We did have a rule of no feed b4 6am but I am knackered and gave in 1/2 a hour early this morning. Do you think he is continuing to wake as he eventually gets fed at 6am, should I get him up at 6 and delay the feed (cue for miserable baby and breasts) no way would he eat his solids b4 his morning feed, have tried this several times, no way no how! He always seems tired during the day and I just dont know what else to do for him, he doesnt eat well as I said and maybe if he had a more substantial dinner he would sleep better but have tried all the tricks in the book. We seem to be trapped in a cycle of too tired to eat properly therefore too hungry to sleep properly. Im going to go insane!!!!!!

I think that if you feed him a very "heavy" meal before going to sleep he has more chances to stay sleeping for longer. I think you have to do it a step at a time. Try to keep naps to a minimum during hte day and...

It may help if you wake him for a feed at 11 and a second one at 3 am, and feed him again at 6. (yes, don't wait for him to scream in hunger, he won't go easily to sleep if he is hungry0

After a few days, remove the 3 am feed, and a couple of weeks later the 11 pm feed.

problem is he wont eat a heavy meal, he has taken a long time to get established on solids, and it was recommended we remove nite feeds, i should add here that he often doesnt get back to sleep after a feed so this was not a situation where his sleep has got worse just that nothing has got better either. i find the less sleep he has during the day the worse he is at nite.

Still I believe is a good idea to remove one night feed at a time rather than all of them at the same time.

BTW How many and how long are his day naps?

thanks chandra we will look at maybe giving him a feed at 4 when he really seems to have trouble, he will have 1-2 naps a day, usually 2.
When he has 1 it is around 11-1ish, when he has 2 they are around 9.30-11.30 and 1.30-3.

well he did really well last nite and slept until 3 am, I strung him out until 4 with patting and so on but at 4 he decided that it just wasnt good enough and I fed him, back to sleep until 6 and has now gone back to bed at 8.30 after a reasonable bfast and a bfeed.
