Our dd's are 12,10 and 8. The younger 2 have skied once before and shared private lessons. The eldest is a beginner as she couldnt ski last year.Do you think they would be better in a group of 5 for 3 hours/day or private for 1 hour.

I would say private for half a day - our two got to grips with skiing really quickly this way. We had three half days for the first week we went, and they now maybe have one half day each trip.

Not sure I'd put the beginner in with the other two - unless there's a dry slope near you where she could go to get some basic skills before the holiday.

I would say group. Private lessons are more tiring for beginners.

Interested in this thread as we are goig next week and I haven't yet booke the lessons. Am considering Pricate lessons for the DC as they hate group lessons, but as the elder (10) is better that the younger (8) an wonmdering if this will be a problem. Maybe will book onme to start and then see how if goes after. Id it possible to join in a group mid-week?

Really depends on the demographic of the group . ds has done well in groups - both English speaking and multilingual. Friends' dds ahted their group lesson last year(too wide an ability range) so they went private and really came on. If you are guaranteed no more than 5 then a group is probably better than private as their peers keep them going. Group lessons often only start on a particular day ie Sunday /Monday especially at busy periods. A one to one at beginners level is fine but can be tiring and she may then not feel able to do much confidently with you for the rest of the time until later in the week.
