custom -made ski boots

Has anyone got boots made to fit their feet, and what do you think of them?

I go past a place in Fulham that does them everyday and there is a sale on at the moment. I have wide feet and sturdy thighs so getting hire boots to fit is always a trial, and I usually change them after a few days. I'm only likely to ski one week a year, and I've no idea of the cost.

Would be interested to know what others think.

Surefoot does this, Know they have a shop in London. It IS expensive ( about £600 I paid for ine) but wonderful and I worked out if I wear them for 20 weeks skiing over 10 years this will be £30/week for fantastic perfectly fitting skiboots.... Bargain !

sturdy thighs - must be very high ski boots Sorry, couldn't resist. I would say if you can afford it then go for it. We had a guest with sturdy calves and she had terrible trouble getting boots to fit.

or go to Snow and Rock. They promise to try their best to get you boots that fit - from insoles to heating and stretching the outer boot to accommodate larger calves (like what I have - though the guy at the Ski Show said that I didn't have large calves - he didn't have to stretch my boots with a paint can, which is what he had to do for someone! You can take the boots back and they will adjust again if they are still not right - they suggest a trip to a dry ski slope to test them out. Will not be as expensive as the custom made boots - about £250 depending on boots (I got sale boots so got mine and fitted insoles for less thatn £200).

My sister has a genetic thing that means her leg muscles are wasting and she has limited ankle mobility and very skinny calves / ankles.
She got some kind of custom ski boot solution, but I can't rmemember exactly where from - she def started at Snow & Rock in Covent Gdn with the intention of getting a custom liner in an off-the-shelf boot but they might have recommended her on to somewhere else.
They are fantastic though!

What's the name of the place? If it's the one where dp got his last year (I can't remember the name will ask him later but I think it was Profeet or Ski Boot Lab) then they are fantastic. Dp had the most comfortable skiing he's had for years, even though he had his own boots previously. So impressed was he that he has offered to buy me a pair for Christmas!

I (huge wide feet, chuncky calves) can definitely recommend the S'n'R fitting service - well Sheffield shop anyway. DH (high arches, skinny calves) was pleased with service from Surefoot in Breckenridge too.
