we recently vistited the alphubel in saas fee, which was fab, but next year we'd like a change, before going back to switzerland.

we are restricted to school holidays and have a budget of £2500 for a family of 4, excluding lift passes etc.

i'd like to be brave and try to book independently, as crystal and other cheaper tour operators have virtually no availablitily- already- for next feb half term/ new year.

would maybe like to try a kinderhotel or similar which has a strong english speaking following.

...or maybe an apartment with a resort run indoor childrens club to go to after skiing lessons.

i'd love to go to austria, but would consider elsewhere if the childcare comes highly recommended.

if yu've been somewhere fab that wasnt ridiculaously expensive, i'd lve to hear about it!

tia

Childcare in Canada is fantastic. We've taken ds1 there for years (and now ds2) and it's been brilliant. We go to Big White and Silver Star - both of which are reknowned for they childcare, and for a 4&6yo would be excellent.

You should be able to get a trip within your budget or a little more: biggest cost is the flights - once you are there, things are much cheaper than Europe.

Alternatively, in Europe, try Samoens or Morillion (on the Grand Massif/Flaine circuit). Both have resort-run childcare at reasonable prices, and driving would keep the cost down a lot: we recently stayed at Les Fermes de Samoens via Peak Retreats, and it was fine for a young family.

My dh took my dd to Alpendorf in Austria just over a week ago and used Tony Gruber ski kindegarten.

He's had nothing but praise for them.
He said they were amazing with the children, dd practically had one to one care the whole week and she loved her "teacher"

This comes from the man that would never leave his children with someone he didnt know

Yes they have an indoor mini club, as they called it.
My dd was booked to do 2 hours of skiing in the morning and afternoon but they said that she was too tired so they let her do the morning and mini club in the afternoon.

As it turned out she kicked up a little storm about being there because she wanted to ski

They also have an outdoor part for them to play in the snow with toys and little houses.

I think there was one other english child in her group. I think the rest were German.

Dh said that the staffs english was brilliant though.
