oh dear. i have just found out that our chalet nanny is 21 which seems young to me to be looking after 3 kids (2.8 years, 19 months, 11 months).

the agency manager said she is an older nanny as most are 19! the agency came recommended through various contacts.

would you be concerned? does anyone have any experience of 'young' nannies, good or bad? maybe 21 is a normal nanny age for ski resorts?

thanks.

No I wouldn't say 21 is young - she could have been feasibly been working after qualifying for at least 3 years - and the resort will have double checked her references etc - if in doubt bring your own nanny - I'll come

Looking after 3 children so young by herself? Never!

Our usual operator has a ratio of 1:1 for those under 12 months and 1:2 for 12-23 months so I would have thought this was stretching the ratios for children of that age (regardless of how old the Nanny is). (hmm)

Wouldn't trust any stranger to look after three kids of that age, irrespective of age.

I'm not 21 yet and have had 4 foster kids living here along with ds!
Its not all to do with her age its how she is with the children and if when you meet her she is capable.
Most young people would struggle I think.......But so would most people if they hadn't enough experiance.

Oh gosh is it legal to leave three that age with her?

Our fulltime nanny was 19 looking after a 3yo and 6-month-old.

She was superb. I don't think 21 is too young if she's qualified and experienced.
