Flight to Salzburg. Would you book BA or wait until Ryanair seats get released?

We are going to Zell am See for New Year- we had intended to fly from Bristol or East Mids with Ryanair- seats get released in next two weeks (apparently)- but FIL has found some cheapish seats with British Airways- but it means flying from Gatwick.

What would you do?- wait or book now?

Plus BA is better than Ryanair isnt it?

  • but LGW is such a pain in the arse to fly from.

Wait, although we often have found little price difference. At that time of year you don't want to be trailing around the country unnecessarily.

Exactly- can you imagine gatwick airport smack bang in between Xmas and New Year? Horrendous I would guess.

Wait, wait, wait. BA prices for that far ahead don't go up so fast. By the way the following tour operators also fly Bristol-Salzburg (likley to be on the same flight?) but you probably don't want to wait for their winter 08/09 schedule (Airtours, Crystal, First Choice, Inghams, My Travel, Thomson)

I would wait. Agree with CM also Cardiff could be an easier alternative.

We fly to Germany/Austria 3 or 4 times a year. We always have to go at peak times cos of school holidays, and in my experince the main airlines like BA and Lufthansa prices are always similar to and sometmes even cheaper than the so-called low cost airlines, particularly if you take flight timings and airports into account. (Not keen on early morning starts in this family). Having said that, we flew with Air Berlin at 1/2 term and it was miles cheaper than any others and at civilised times.
