Hi all, am taking my 14-months dd for skiing with me, in mid februaru. Wopuld she be allowed to go on slopes with us? in a backpack? cannot find helmets for her - is that because she should not be having one or I just can't find it ? my dh is a great skier and he could take her with him - the ski resort we are going (jahorina/balkans) cannot tell me is there a policy about the child age and admittance policy? we go with a bunch of friends and other option would be we go on skiing in shifts and 1 of us stays with her and plays in snow, which is alos nice and acceptbale ....what do you think? any experience to share?

No she mustn't go on the slopes with you skiing: it is too dangerous. Apart from potential falls (all skiers fall sometimes - even me ), young kids in backpacks have died from the cold in these situations. Don't do it.

By all means take her out playing in the snow, sledging etc. You could also take her up the mountain in a cable car/gondola (and back down again), but I don't think Jahorina has one.

Do not try to take her with you when you are skiing.

Simple answer no . Very few resorts allow kiddiepacks on tow lifts for a good reason. I've only seen it done occasionally and even better skiers have accidents. You can get small helmets but seriosuly doubt that small. Could also be very cold and windy, remeber she won't be moving or able to keep warm. Best prepare for babysitting and limited time spent outside.

Great - thanks! all you said was useful - was in doubt, people here do not usually take the babies on skiing (actually are overptorective, do not expose babies to the outdoors much, in general, and not much use for advice can be found) and saw only one baby in a kiddiepack (at kopaonik), this looked like a nice scene to me but was not a mother at that time! we will definitelly go out and play (hopefully in snow not grass!) and dh and I will ski in shifts, we are not that pros who need to be 7 hrs on slopes....Thaaaanks!
