Off to Canada on saturday for 2 weeks. [Yes, we've taken 6yo ds1 out of school.] He'll be booked into ski-school for most of the time - which we know he'll love - and ds2 is booked into daycare, so we'll be able to go off and enjoy ourselves.

Snow report/forecast looking good.

yessssss! the total highlight of my year, without doubt. so so so so excited. off to les gets mid feb. driving for the first time (train last year) - must remember to sort out some snow chains and A LOT of story cds....

ds can't wait, his 3rd year so he can join us in the afternoons for lunch on the slopes and dd is having her lessons for the first time - full of bravado so fingers crossed she'll love it too.

We will be there 5 weeks today - decided to take DS before we have to try to keep to school holidays! I can't wait, going to Kaprun in Austria, haven't skied since I was pregnant! Do you remember how after 5 years? We are having lessons, my DH isn't excited at all yet - he doesn't look forward to holidays ever until he finishes work!

Lol, liz! i am really not hard to please and am not expecting luxury. am hoping for a 'top of the range budget hotel' , (iykwim) run by people who care about families. my only slight apprehensions are regarding childcare/ski kindergarten. but i always feel like that if i dont know the set up.

i do know what you mean though, liz as i'm hoping the people coming with us will be pleased with it too.

fingers crossed then . If you see a photo in the creche of a chocolate smeared tot sitting in a highchair wearing a green poloneck top, it's dd (5 or so years ago)!!

liz....are you about?

i am starting to pack essential items and was wondering if you could tell me:

-is it far from the coach drop off ponit to the hotel? and deliberating about which cases to take. would you expect that we will have to carry all our own bags a long distance, trudging through the snow?

  • is there a store room where we can leave empty cases? am guessing there won't be much space in the room to 'live out of a suitcase'.

-lastly, do you think we'll need anything smarter than jeans and sweatshirts for the evenings? not sure i've got room for a 'dressing for dinner' wardrobe!

lol

It is a fair way across the open car park and up a steepish slope but the hotel will send an electrobus to carry you and luggage (free phone at the bus station to ring if rep doesn't). There isn't usually significant snow, if any, on the roads that end of town.

There are usually high shelves in the room to store suitcases, or under bed. I expect you could ask to use the basement boot room or pram room if needs be (your ski stuff will be taken and left in a locker at the Hotel Waldesruh by the nursery slope area).

Casual is fine, even for Swiss Evening.

say hello to Heather from us and I trust she'll look after you, my reputation is at stake! We'll try to catch up with her when we're over again at Easter !
