How old are your DC's ?

We've done two MW ski hols - 1st one when dd was 5 and that was great - then when she was 7 I think probably we had outgrown MW - way too many babies in the hotel when you don't have one iyswim ?

If your kids are younger though - MW is fab - make sure you book the kids into the creche - then they get taken to ski school and picked up and taken back to the hotel. This means you can get off and do your own skiing - otherwise you get to carry all their stuff and have to be late for your ski school and leave slightly before the end to collect kids !

Best thing about MW is the early tea for kids and the room listening service that means you can have a relaxed gron up dinner ! The food is usually great and the wine is included - so you will get some quality time together.

Well first time we went to Alpe d'Huez - stayed in the Mariandre - that was lovely - absolutely lovely ! Second time was Les Deux Alpes at La Berengere - which I really wanted to go to as it has a pool and a spa - but location wise we were very disappointed as our room overlooked an actual slope and it was very very noisy until about 3am with drunk people snowboarding and shouting right outside our window ! The hotel was boiling and we really needed the window open - but the noise was dreadful - so we all got very hot and dehydrated ! The spa was nothing to write home about although dd really enjoyed the pool.

Of those two I would recommend the Mariandre !

Thanks, that's very helpful. I really have no idea!

Just want something reasonably quiet and child friendly and maybe a few off piste activities.

If you go for the Mariandre you can walk about and play in the snow right outside the hotel - and walk to the swimming pool and ice rink - which are free included in your ski pass price !

Another good thing that MW do is play a kids video at 6pm - right next to the bar - so the kids go in the creche room and chill out and mum and dad have a few pre-dinner cocktails in the bar in sight of the kids and it's all very chilled - the kids wnader in and out to talk to you and no-one minds as they all have kids !

When we went the second time they alos played an older kids film at about 8pm and lots of people left their kids watching the film in their rooms while they went to dinner - we didn't as ours is an only and wouldn't ahve liked it - so we waited till she fell asleep to go down for dinner.

Hope that helps ?
