Plan Peisey, Les Arcs - Anyone been and happy to answer my irritating questions !

Really wanted to go to La Rosiere but haven't been able to fit together DH's time off/ childcare availability/chalet availability so I have an option on a week in Plan Peisey.

It looks fine for DH and I. We're not too fussy (as long as the runs aren't too scarey for me ). But, we are going with my parents who have never skied but want to give it a go but being 64 and 63 they are aware that they might not get on with it or be up to skiing all the time so, to cut a long story short can anyone let me know:

  • Is there a bus that goes between the different Les Arcs villages. My Mum wants to be able to go as far up the mountain as she can as a pedestrian and it looks like you need to be able to get to some of the villages on the other side of Les Arcs to do this

  • Did you have lessons and if so what were they like ?

erm, there must be lots of other qu's I can think of but that is it for now !

Thanks.

Looks like Les Arcs are all linked by bus but not Plan Peisey.

From this website

How do I get to other resorts from Les Arcs?
A All the Les Arcs villages can be reached by ski or board using the ski lift system.

Each of the 4 Arcs are linked by a free shuttle bus. Arc 1800 and Peisey-Vallandry are linked by La Fðret ski run which can be used to walk between the 2 places. Otherwise you would need to organise a taxi. You can reach other ski resorts and towns by bus or take the train.

Not sure how ideal walking down a blue run would be, but apparantly it is a very gentle gradient blue run. There is a chair lift from Peisey - not sure if it goes all the way to Les Arcs. Google for a piste map. I'd have thought that they would allow pedestrians on the chair lift. When I was a beginner skier and in Montchavin I was too scared once to ski down the blue (red) to the chalet and they let me go down the chairlift.

We went to Les Arcs three years ago and I'm 90% sure we were in Plan Peisey but will check with DH later as I have preg head and can't be certain. The village we stayed in seemed q isolated compared to the rest of the resort -and it was a pain lugging your skis a long way back after a hard day's skiing.
Didn't have lessons so can't help there but IIRC there's a good variety of slopes there and an English ski school as well as ESF.
Hope that helps

Thanks all - I like the sound of Les Arcs but dates wise now I think we are going to have to go for La Rosiere (I think we have chnaged the date about 5 times now).

Interesting about the path down the blue run though - might work going down but going up ?

I would NOT do plan peisy as a possible non skier. It is a newly cuilt chalet area and not really a village. It is not linked to the other resorts by bus (as far as I know)

I would look at La Rosiere, or other more 'villigey' places which will have other things bar skiing

THanks Crunchie. Think we have more or less definitely settled on La Rosiere. I think La Plagne would have been better for those not planning on skiing all the time but can't get accomodation and/or childcare at the right time.
