Chains on 2 wheels...so on front wheels if front wheel drive. I think. You are unlikely to need them at Easter, but you do need to take them. Where are you skiing!

We drive a lot to the Alps...and have not needed chains often. Last year was an exception...and I drove there without my DH who usually deals with chains. Make sure you practice before you need them. I kept gloves on, DH doesn't and needed defrosting and babywipes! In one lay by we met a lovely gendarme who was extraordinarily helpful. Lots of photos to prove it! Grin. Rinse out chains after use...the salt on roads corrodes chains v quickly. And don't get them tangled!!! Easier said than done!

We have a Honda CRV and have driven to the Alps a number of times and never needed them. HOWEVER you cannot rely on it - one year pre Honda we got stuck without and had to be rescued!

Always test them first (this is what did for us, we had a set but one was broken) and they can be a pig to put on. Don't put them on too early either, they shag tyres when driven on normal roads.
