Skiing in Kempervennen- what gear do we need?

Taking the DC's (11, 9, +7) skiing for the first time in Kempervennen centre parcs, I believe they provide ski's and helmet, has anyone been- if so can you offer any advice? Do they provide goggles too? Is it possible to 'free ski' while the kids are having their lesson? Any other tips? Many Thanks in advance!

I have just had a look at the Trip Advisor reports and the website for Kempervennen and it does look rather good. They say they provide all the equipment, but you will need warm layers under ski suits, whether your own or the Centre's plus decent socks. I don't think you will need goggles for an indoor slope as it will be neither snowing nor very sunny. The site is unclear about free ski opportunities, maybe you could email them. Presumably you are a skier already, if it is like Milton Keynes they will not allow beginners to ski without tuition.

Thanks Winkle- good tip re. the goggles, shan't bother buying any. You are right about beginners not being allowed to free ski- DH and I are skiers although not for many years so hoping that won't be a problem! We've booked a free ski for an hour each day- guess we'll just find out when we get there whether we can ski when the kids are having their lesson. Thanks for your help Smile

Just thought i'd update this thread.. We have now been to Kempervennen 2 years running, both trips very enjoyable. The kids had lessons both times (and we were able to free ski during those lessons) they also stayed on after the lesson to ski with us.. although if they needed to leave for a wee they wouldn't be allowed back in without a buying a pass.
This year we are going to try Parc Hochsauerland, another centre park in Germany. It is close to some ski resorts so offer a bit more of a challenge now that the kids can ski.

Anneyc thanks for the update - we're off to Kampervennen at Easter this year and have booked some lessons for DD (4) so your feedback's really helpful.

I'd be interested to hear how it goes at Parc Hochsauerland - I hadn't thought of combining a Center Parcs stay with visits to a 'real' ski resort.
