we are off to Grindelwald in a month and the children (5 and 6) and I need lessons. would be grateful of any recommendations or what to look out for. should I go with the company favoured by the hotel? should I book 1/2 or full days for the children? - they have no previous experience. huge thanks for any advice!

IIRC, there is only one ski school per resort in that region, and they are all Swiss Ski and Snowboard School, all dong the Swiss Snow League programme. Both safety and tuition standards are very high.

How long a day depends on age of DCs and how well they take to it. I'd go for the two hour lessons in the morning, and then either ski with them yourself or add further private lessons in the afternoons depending on how they get on.

Go for am only , you could always upgrade. At that time of year snow is unpredictable and may well be heavy going after lunch. You can always use the lift pass for trips up the mountain trains instead. However iirc the nursery slopes in Grindelwald are some way out of the actual town.

I've just spoken t a mate who knows Grindelwald well. He instantly recommended the ski school on Bodmi as best for younger children and complete beginners.
