The Tsarina stuff being secret - I don't like it, I don't like it AT ALL

Just registering my unpleasant squirmy feelings about there being a secret bit of MN, really.

And I KNOW why it's there. But I can't see the point of it being secret.

I think the tsarinas are the ones in charge of each mumsnet local. Don't know how they got picked or if they volunteered. And what do they do? And why does it have to be secret like HM says. boggle emoticon.

I think I am partly to blame for that.

First a topic was created wich was called Tsarinas Hideout.

Tsarinas are site editors on local, we are volunteers, unpaid, and help find local info we add to the local editions (our areas). Of course everybody can add listings, not just tsarinas, but if something is entered twice we can edit, etc.

Lots of people had no clue what a tsarina was, and all sort of weird stuff was posted on the thread.

I suggested making it either for tsarinas only, or not have it at all. Because, what is the point of having a place to chat if nobody (but tsarinas) knows what it is for, nobody knows who the tsarinas are, so it turned out a pretty weird thread with Penis Soup and some pretty gibberish posts.

However, after discussing a bit on that and another thread, it was concluded that the best would probably be not to make it secret but have a tsarinas wall of infamity so you could see who was who and who covered what area. This way it would not be secret but we would know who we are and what area we cover.

So you may ask (and it was asked) what sort of secret stuff would tsarinas need to chat about? Nothing much really. But some share the same area, and some are bordered by many other areas, and have information that could easily go on other editions than their own.

But then Tech created a secret section, the thread we were posting on disappeared. And I for one have not been able to find any secret section at all, it is that secret.

I am not so keen on secrecy, just to have a forum to post without being inundated with lots of other unrelated stuff. My latest suggestion was to put the topic in Site Stuff, and call it something like Site Editors Conference Call. So it would not be secret, but it would be obvious what it was and not really tempting to post on it unless you had something to say that was relevant to it.

Gosh that was long. But as I am the one who originally asked for it, I think I should explain.

Just a pity that the thread had moved away from that solution and were in the process of finding better ones when it was closed.
