Merging Threads

Hi Tech!

I know on other forums they are able to 'merge' threads that are discussing the same subject.

I think is may be quite useful here, what do you think?

i agree jools. they do it on digital spy and it works well, as much as to discourage people from opening up loads of new threads on the same subject as anything else.
why are you JT, NB?

the whole (new) thread, including title are merged into the original one

lapin, it's not confusing and works well and once people are aware that threads get merged it encourages them to search a subject before starting a new thread. In fact some forums have a message at the top asking people to try and refrain from starting duplicate threads

it would cos its talking about the same thing and judging by some duplicate threads on here at the mo SAYING the same thing!

Would it work for selling threads too? Now that would be great: everyone selling baby clothes would find they had to compete with each other on the same thread!
