So how much has MN grown then?

Just idle curiosity really, but in the light of all these discussions about how MN has changed I just wondered if anyone (MN Towers perhaps) had any figures they were able to share. (If it's a secret for any reason, fair enough!)

eg. how many more posters are there now than a year ago?
how many more threads are there?

I've noticed that threads seem to get to 100 posts all the time now, even on not particularly exciting topics....

I'd like to know how many people are logged on at a particular time.

The stats most widely used are monthly page views - currently 9 million and monthly unique visitors - currently 750 000.
To give you a sense of growth, a year ago (May 06) our traffic was 4.5 million page views, so we've doubled in a year.

When I first joined, logging on to Active Conversations meant reading ALL the threads on the go, and then waiting for one to be updated. Lovely and cosy!!! It was very exciting when a new thread appeared!

I used to log on each evening and look at posts posted in last 24 hours. It would be in the region of 40 threads. I remember when it got to over a 100 threads with new posts and I had to alter my way of mumsnetting.

Thanks Justine

So people who joined even 2 years ago will have had it change very much even in that time.

Interesting what people are saying about what it used to be like, too.

Well I think it was different in that you probably "got to know" more of the people who use the site. On the plus side I think you can get lots of answers really quickly, on the downside threads can get a bit lost - particularly if it's v busy and they drop off active conversations quickly - that's partly why we added the unanswered threads link - do many folk use that?

i scan my favourtie topics and check on unanswered threads alot.

I occasionally look at the unanswered threads, to see if I can help with anything. But more often than not, I can't

every so often, littlelapin shouts at us all and we go away and clear all the unanswered. I know of a few mners who check them quite regularly

Oooh! Can we update the acronym list please?

There are a few that I've seen used in threads and I have no idea what they mean. I know I could just ask people, and I do, but it'd be nice to have the list updated I think

I suppose 'unanswered threads' must be working as long as it's not constantly growing.

To me it feels like TK Max now. There's a fair bit of stuff I like, but I have to sift through piles and piles of stuff which I have no interest in to get to it.

Perhaps I'll find a new way of cherry picking, I don't know.
