to add a bookmark feature for longer threads?

I'd love to be able to mark easily where I'd got to in a thread, then click "go to bookmark" at the top of the page and for it to alight on the last post I read.

It had been shoved hurriedly and carelessly through my letterbox. Fine after a quick dust down with a damp cloth though.
