There's some problem with the session management clearly....could be a problem with exceeding number of threads....

I have tried replying to threads and it says done at the bottom, but nothing comes up on the thread.

Yeah, sorry, I meant "thread of execution" (computer term). Sorry, thinking out loud. I'll shut up....it's not a geek topic after all

Hi, sorry, we've been messing with the server because of the new Mumsnet Local section. That's why you've been getting logged off. We are done now. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Tech's top tip for staying logged on.....

When you log in say "Yes" to "remember me for 30 days" even if you just want to stay on for this session. When you are finished your session, click "LOG OUT" in the top blue bar. That "erases" the memory and you need to log in again next time.

The advantage of doing that is your login is remembered across server restarts etc, but if you remember to log out when you are finished, there's no security issues like someone else coming to computer and posting as you.

If you don't say "remember" and we have to "bounce" the server for any reason, your session dies and you have to log in again.

Anyway, it should be back to normal now.

Regards,
Tech

It's caucho resin open source. (By the by, it can persist sessions across restarts, but isn't configured to do so at present, by the by. Should prob do that really...)

Went a bit "by the by" mad there.....

Right. Heard of it, supposed to be very good. I guess you can do distributed sessions with that...I presume you are storing the session data in a SessionObject or Hashtable currently rather than a DB.
Anyway, the site performs very nicely....
