Hi folks,

We'd like to add some more topics that have been requested but to do that we need to retire a few less well used ones or the talk home page will be unfeasibly long... so here are our suggestions:

Hello to:
Am I being unreasonable?
Geek stuff
The sandwich generation (elderly parents etc)

Goodbye to:
Member profiles
Christmas (until about August at least)
Creative writing - sorry budding authors - would you mind using other subjects/ culture vultures from now on?
Sports (other subjects for you too please sports fans if you don't mind?)

Please do let us know if you've any violent objections.
Best,
MNHQ

no objections, but I don't understand :the sandwich generation. Could someone please explain.

Agree, like the subset of 'Am I being unreasonable?'
and yes to sandwich generation, feel many of us will end up using this.

Sandwich gen = responsible for small children AND elderly parents.

What would geek stuff be? Is it covered by products or am i barking up the wrong tree?

Report
JustineMumsnet · 29/01/2007 11:44

Geek stuff is for techy issues - for people to talk about java and bandwidth and stuff like that - some folks seem to be keen, so we thought we'd trial it (personally, I have my doubts as to it's popularity not being v technically literate myself, but who knows?)

wasn't there talk ages ago of getting a little moon icon so we could see when there's a full one, sponsored by mooncups? that'd be fun

Does anyone still use the Poetry section ?!

Report
JustineMumsnet · 29/01/2007 11:52

Yes Southeastastra the moonwatch is still very much on to do list but has been slightly overtaken by other stuff... we will get to it, honest (not sure whether mooncup will sponsor though - we wrote to them but they didn't get back - they clearly don't know their audience )

Think we retired the poetry section a while back NDP.

And the tv?
Honestly I am going to smash my pc up if I see one more BB thread!

Report
JustineMumsnet · 29/01/2007 11:55

The idea is to lose threads CD, not make more! (Don't worry BB won't last much longer.)

ah, the poetry section has already gone anyway (doh)

Just a thought though, can STUDENT PARENTS be moved to the Education section of the topics list, atm it is in the 'Becoming a parent' section which seems a bit odd.

I wonder if The Environment could go?

It was my suggestion initially; but I originally wanted one because of the amount of people pouring bleach down their loos

after Good Housekeeping came up a lot of those issues were discussed on there

I don't think it gets used a lot now - surely that could be Other Subjects too?

CountessDracula · 29/01/2007 11:57

I will have to smash up my pc then

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Report
Cappuccino · 29/01/2007 11:59

maybe we could have a 'without reality tv' button for CD instead

and for me. actually I'd like one too

sunnywong · 29/01/2007 11:59
