I HATE change. I like everything exactly as it used to be in 2006 when I joined mumsnet. I don't like the iphone mumsnet app and always use mumsnet talk via safari but today all I get is some weird irritating new shiny crappy site that has shaded areas and buttons and gizmos. This is going to make me stop using MN. I can only use it on iphone as I can't remember the password I had to reset after some stupid thing made us all reset our passwords. Oh I am so angry! PLEASE CAN YOU STOP CHANGING THKNGS IT DIESNT MAKE IT BETTER

It's a new mobile site on all platforms. There's quite a few threads about it.

So is there no way of just using the desktop site on my phone? Up until this pint in time I could decline mobile site

Yes, you can simply click on the desktop link. It's somewhere on every page.

It's right at the bottom of the page

I know there are lots of threads so this is probably being dealt with:

On new phone site the "I'm watching" section is not updating.

My poor phone is in danger of hitting the pavement from a great height.AngrySad

It's taking me forever to post meaning someone else has already said what I was going to say or I miss vital bits of information that makes it look like I havent RTFT. That's going to cause some serious for in mouth problems when I start suggesting/saying things an it turns out several posts edits that it's not physically possible. Eats the battery to.

I've had to give up and resort to "desktop" on my phone.

It has devoured my data allowance. Angry

And why oh why will customisation no longer do as it's told? Since the change it will only show - in Active conversations - the latest poster but not the thread starter. I keep ticking the box, it keeps ignoring me. Everything worked before.

Sad

I think it does...

Would welcome expert input.

But the new mobile screen completely kills the conversational experience. I'd almost given up posting yesterday.

Yep I agree the new mobile site is crap (IMHO). But I have now found desktop clucky link thing and I will stick to that when I am on WIFI. I know they have to make changes but it's the relentless prescription of it rather than asking if we want to use it. Most websites ask 'use mobile site or continue to desktop site' MN JUST FORCES YOU !!!!

According to what I've read we're stuck with it because of the static Advertising panel on the top which takes up so much screen space.

I'd say they'll see a big drop off in use because the mobile site is so clunky and user unfriendly.

I tried with it for a few days but it was awful. I like to to be easily click around different Topics but you can't.

Nothing is a link, just a dead word on the screen. Once you get down into a thread you're nested. It's awkward to get out.

It's like they un-invented the wheel. All for advertising. Pah.

Agree with you scarlet 'nested' is a good way of putting it actually. I often only have the energy to deal with one thread per visit now, when I used to flit about all over the place.

Using the desktop on my phone just chucks me off the internet (even on WiFi) so I'm stuck really.
