Phone hacked by porn website while online on Mumsnet

Last night I was happily having a nice soak in the tub with a glass of vino while perusing Mumsnet's Talk forums on my phone. Amid giggling away to myself at an amusing "brass-neckedness" thread I was all of a sudden bombarded with disgusting sexual images of girls by a highly graphic pornographic website. My Mumsnet content had totally disappeared and was replaced with this porn site attempting to download something onto my phone.

I had not searched for it, had not requested it and certainly did not give it permission to download anything to my phone. 3 times I frantically had to stop it trying to download something, whilst it told me I'd be charged for content viewed.

I couldn't understand where this site had just suddenly appeared from and gained access to my phone. Mumsnet doesn't have any porn ads that I could have accidentally clicked on does it???

This caused a row between me & my OH as I quizzed him over whether he'd searched for this filth and inadvertently given it access to other devices in the house connected to the wifi. But he swears he didn't. This morning my phone isn't behaving normally - Apps scattered every where, emails not getting through, keyboard functions out of sorts.

Has this happened to anyone else while using this site? I sometimes let the kids play on my phone and really don't want this coming through again. Im also concerned this was an attempt at identity theft. I have so much of my personal info accessed via my phone - emails, internet banking, paypal account etc. Im so worried that, although I persistently stopped its attempts to download whatever it was, that I've been hacked and theres still something running in the background

Hi Y0rkshirePudding

So sorry about this. There's another thread about this, so it does look like there's something happening on site.

It would be very helpful if you could tell us as much as possible about what you were doing prior to the porn appearing, i. e had you clicked on any certain threads, what you're using to post etc.

We'll try and get to the root of this asap. Thank you for your patience in the meantime Flowers

They were calling themselves 'Booty Call' and contained lots of extremely graphic images of girls carrying out sex acts. In the website address bar I noticed something along the lines of 'ewank'. Didnt get the entire address though as i was frantically trying to click off it as it started trying to download something. I'd stop it downloading but it appeared again another 2 times. It seems to be some kind of pay-per-view porn site, with people having left reviews stating things along the lines of 'these women are hot and so filthy' 'this great, thesecwomen will do anything' etc.... but they don't ask permission to view, they just thrust it upon you, start downloading something then state theyre gonna charge you.

I was merely using my Android Samsung Galaxy S3 reading a thread on Mumsnet - I had not posted anything and had not clicked on any links within that thread...

I had this too! ANdroid phone, built in browser (not chrome, but dunno what). I didn't click anything, but it's happened to me twice, just whilst reading threads. It's a very graphic site, thankfully my children weren't around.

I had one this afternoon (it rhymed with "ebank", and was similarly graphic), and it said it would charge me £6 if I clicked. Since I was already frantically stabbing my phone with my finger in order to close the page, I'm really hoping a bloody porn site won't appear on my phone bill.

I think I'll call my phone provider tomorrow, just to make sure.
