Chalet School Topic

We are about to complete our fifth thread on the Chalet School books over on AIBU and feel, rather than starting a sixth one, we should explore more appropriate places to post. We are reluctant to post on Chat as we would like to retain the posts as some of them are quite insightful into the books and characterisation. We also don't feel the threads fit logically into either adults' or children's fiction.
Is there a possibility of having a new topic under Books either devoted to the Chalet School series or to fiction which crosses over between adults and children?

I would like that. I've only posted on one thread a couple of times but enjoy reading them.

But it's not so much about 'we must have our very own special topic' as not seeming to fit within the existing ones. It doesn't seem appropriate to either the adults' or children's fiction topics imo.

That's it exactly. We are reluctant to keep posting on AIBU as it's not really appropriate to that topic but also seem to cross over between Adult and Children's fiction. The Chat topic is also not really suitable for the tone and development of the 5 threads to date on the topic.

I'm a chalet school reader/fan (though not on the threads) but I agree - it's children's fiction read by adults, just like Harry Potter would be.

I agree they're children's books but I'm just not sure the actual tone of the threads, including bits and pieces or fan fictiony stuff, is actually appropriate to children's books which seems to be more about recommending good books for children, what books are suitable for different age groups etc.

Happy to post there though, if others agree it's a suitable area??

Children's Books makes sense to me. There's many a thread that has a more adult take on a children's book.

Only issue would be if an actual child read the thread thinking it was just about the books themselves..but since the site is aimed at adults then should be ok. Although there would possibly be some merit having a topic that covers kids books read by adults (ie HP) as here can be "adult" content on the threads..

Can't imagine there would be any riots in the streets if you post in either Adult or Children's fiction. You Chaleteers are such a nice bunch.

If you guys can reach a consensus on where you'd like to post, we're happy for you to set up camp there. Must admit I've never read any of them, would get the benefit reading them as an adult?

Thanks Kate.
I think you would enjoy reading them as an adult. They have a real charm about them and give you a bit of insight into what it was like in Europe in the years approaching WW11. The earlier half of the series also concentrates quite a lot on the concerns of the adults and the logistics of setting up and running a school.
