Is the silence is deafening, or is it just me?

Please forgive me if there is something coming soon in response to the threads about the Child Abuse Inquiry, but I am becoming truly bemused now at the lack of MNHQ comment on any of the specific requests for running a campaign, or webchat around this. Not even a "we'll look into this" kind of thing.

I know and fully appreciate how sensitive the topic is, and that there has been a lot threads about this previously, and not without a lot of controversy. However, isn't the key thing here about showing support for a proper inquiry to establish the truth, in a way that gains full public support from survivors and the public, regardless of our own thoughts about what might or might not have been happening with respect to alleged covering up historic child abuse, connections to Westminster and the level of establishment involvement?

The mainstream media across the board is covering this far wider than ever before, and (albeit slowly) more MPs are coming forward in support.

I am thoroughly Confused at the lack of response. Sorry if IABU.

I guess it's just me then.

Hello - many apologies for the silence from our end. We've had a few requests for a webchat about this, but understandably a lot of the figures who've been suggested are very busy at the moment and rather difficult to pin down. We haven't given up hope though.

I bet! Thanks, Rowan. Giving this another bump.

Oh lovely, thank you Rowan, and yes I can imagine some very busy "figures"!

As we've caught your attention, is there any chance of giving some weight to the petition to help get it up to 100,000? You must agree it's important to get this properly debated, no?

Thank you Garlic Smile

Here's the key points from the petition again (well IMO)

  1. Government should make amends for historic failures to act by establishing an independent national inquiry into organised child abuse.

  1. We need to make sure the inquiry has all the powers it needs.

  1. We owe it to the survivors. They expect nothing less.

While public pressure has already clearly helped towards getting an inquiry, the important thing now is for it to be debated in parliament, particularly around who now should take the inquiry forward. This petition reaching 100,000 will help ensure that happens.

Come on people, 2181 to go.

That's 97,819 people want to see this happen. MN could make a real difference in seeing this get discussed.

petition now at 100,000

It would be nice to get it to 150,000.

100,000 is a lot, 150,000 is huge.

Yoo Hoo MNHQ!

I know you are snowed under in here no-one mention the mobile site but I hear we've managed to reel one in for you via Twitter! Smile

Please also reconsider bumping the petition somehow - it seems to be slowing.

The Butler-Sloss replacement has also gone deathly quiet - a webchat might be a great kickstarter for both?

How many more ancient threads are you going to bump with your anti Masonic musings?

It's rather boring now.
