something ought to be done about her derailing of a thread that was supporting a grieving woman.

Many of us reported last night, the user is still at it.

Yes, the troll Caitlin177 is playing the nasty game of keeping each post within the guidelines but definitely not within the 'Spirit of MN'.

I hope she is banned.

In fact, I'm reporting my post now so that MNHQ will definitely see this thread - please MNHQ look at the posting pattern, not the individual posts.

DeepThought · 12/06/2014 08:48

Gosh yes do please look at the pattern,HQ

Ffs ban the arsehole. There is no excuse for goading a bereaved mother.

Report
Cocolepew · 12/06/2014 08:54

It's despicable what she did on that thread.
Utter cunt. What enjoyment can you possibly get out of goading a bereved mother ?

Report
FourForksAche · 12/06/2014 08:55

trouble is, as her posts have been left to stand, more people are replying to her than to walzing. There is some great advice on the thread, it would be a shame if the whole thing got deleted.

I was appalled by the derailing of that thread, and I really don't want to associate myself with that particular poster, but come on, guys. Starting an open public thread to tear into another poster? Sounds like cyber bullying to me.

Do it in private direct with MNHQ, if you have a problem with an individual poster. I am sure this particular poster is already on their radar anyway.

FourForksAche · 12/06/2014 09:06

this thread isn't to rip into the poster, it's to try to get some action. I and many others have repeatedly, pointlessly reported already.

Morning all,

We will look at this one right now.
Apologies

Multiple reports to HQ aren't working toapoint. Hopefully this will draw more people's attention to the problem, will result in more reports, and prompt a response from HQ.

thanks Rebecca, I'll leave this alone now.

Certain other posters didn't cover themselves with glory on that thread with the use of disablist insults.

OwlCapone · 12/06/2014 09:21

As an aside, why do people assume that posters know every other posting name when they register? I've never heard of either Caitlin before this thread.

And no, I'm not defending the stuff on that thread.

HaroldLloyd · 12/06/2014 09:38

Agree with Derek, hope it's a ban.

Hi all,

TSSDNCOP especially on individual cases, but as we posted on the thread, we take a very dim view of this kind of disrespectful posting and we will be dealing with the poster accordingly.

Many thanks for your reports.

Glad it's been picked up now, and hope fully it's stopped in its tracks.

Fucking vile.

The Secret Service Does Not Comment On Procedure - it's a quote from The West Wing. And also, confusingly, a poster in MN.

I feel really sad. How horrid to say AIBU is for "robust chat". Fuck. That. Shit. Maybe on a thread where the op is clearly an arse and inviting something "robust". But wheel that rake of shite out on a thread started by a grief stricken mother?! Give your heads a wobble. I've seen some fairly jaw dropping stuff over the years on here but that was a kick in the bollocks of humanity.

Funnyfoot · 12/06/2014 10:23

It has been deleted.

I really hope the OP posts again as she was getting some real support and it allowed her to express how she felt (I got the impression she was finding it difficult to say in RL) and deal with her emotions.

Caitlin177 showed as much compassion as the neighbour. Her opinions were not relevant on that thread however real they were to her.

There are several issues here. firstly the context of which 177's comments were made. Yes the OP posted in AIBU which can be more gloves off than the bereavement/relationships boards however this was clearly someone looking for support and reassurance. She admitted in her op she realised the neighbour was not to blame for what happened but could not help her feelings of anger and was asking for advice on this aspect. 177's comments completely derailed the thread and weren't simply a different view point but were intended to rile.

Secondly is the fact that she is using a username that is so ridiculously similar to an established poster in an effort to give her bile credence. This is something that needs to be looked into as it is something more and more trolls will do.

Report
HaroldLloyd · 12/06/2014 10:54

Or is being deliberately cunt-esque to try and make the other poster look bad.
