Mobile site on iPhone Vs app

I've just got a new (old) iPhone and of course the first thing I want to put on it after my contacts is mumsnet.

I've downloaded the app and am not impressed. Apart from it looking all weird and unusual, some features I'm used to aren't available, the main one being highlight OP's posts (essential imo).

I used to use mobile site on my previous phone but I can't work out how to put mobile site as an 'app' on iPhone homescreen, have to go to it via search engine so having to log in everytime. Not only is this tedious but I have to switch to desktop site first or it won't log me in and this is starting to give me rage!

Can any mumsnet iPhone users educate me please so I can spend the weekend as I'd planned happily eating cake Brew and mumsnnetting

I agree the app is a bit rubbish so I use the mobile site instead.
I have an Android tablet and was able to save mumsnet as a bookmark and then add the bookmark as a shortcut to my homescreen. Does the iphone let you do the same?

I use the mobile site on my phone - I just keep it open the whole time, in a window and keep myself logged in. Hate the app.

I'll keep messing around and see if I can do that MrsCakes
That's how I used it on my other phone but unless I'm just being a bit dim I can't see how to do that yet.
I am very not used to this phone yet! It's not as amazing as I'd been toldHmm

Does this help? Not having an iphone I'm not sure - but it looks good.

That's great MrsCakes except it won't let me log in via safari?

Weird but maybe that's something else that I need to play around with unless safari is broken?

Any other iPhone users got any other hints or tips. I can't believe how let down I'm feeling. I was told this phone was the dogs,amazing,super-dooper and I've spent most of my day just trying to set the damn thing up!

I have put a link to active threads on my phone and ipad by using the 'share' option at the top of the screen, next to the address bar!
Total lifesaver. The app is crapp

Hullo folks,

We know the app leaves a lot to be desired, BUT, we're in the process of designing a new shiny one which will work much better, so stick with the mobile site for now, but something better is coming Smile

That's good news Kate. Would be very helpful to be able to have the OP posts highlighted, makes reading a ginormous thread much easier.

Btw, incase anyone was having same issues as me with safari, seems the inability to log in was that I had phone settings not allowing cookies. Appears they are needed to log in

You might have worked this out but if you want to save it to the home screen like an app goto active conversations on safari then click the button whih is a rectangle with an arrow pointing up on it at the bottom of the screen and click add to home screen
