Hullo folks,

Our tech team have alerted us to this story about a security flaw in Internet Explorer, and we thought it would be wise to let you guys know about it.

As the article says, it has come to light that in versions 6 – 11 of Internet Explorer, there is a flaw that means that in certain circumstances, it may be easier for hackers to gain control of your PC. In light of this news, we’d like to suggest to MNers using IE that they consider switching to a different, more secure browser such as Chrome or Firefox.

If you’re not sure which version of IE you’re using, this handy link will tell you.

We’d like to make it clear that this is a system-wide problem, with no connection to Mumsnet, but it seemed prudent to let you guys know about it.

If you want to switch, you can download Firefox here, or Google Chrome here.

If you have any questions about this issue then please do post them below, and we’ll try to answer as best we can.

I use Chrome but for the last few days MN hasn't worked on it. It crashes, won't load pages fully (so most of the screen is white), or just hangs. I resorted to IE but I hate it. Perhaps this is something affecting others or that could be looked at?
