Oh I wish I was a mumsnetter with flour in my hair (calling for input from all Old Timers...)

Oh I wish I was a mumsnetter with flour in my hair
In 98 and 99 revolution was in the air
But it?s now become too big and a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a mumsnetter with flour in my hair

When the threads of late didn't stretch too far,
And every evening had a Bar ,
When grammar really mattered and when SoupDragon was king,
When ?Buy & Sell? didn't have control
And advertisers couldn't buy your soul
And Tech was still quite scary and we didn?t know a thing

Oh I wish I was a mumsnetter with flour in my hair
In 98 and 99 revolution was in the air
But it?s now become too big and a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a mumsnetter with flour in my hair

When trollsters still remained a myth
And ignorance could still be bliss
And when Cod Saved the Day she had a multitude of fans
When Mums and Dads weren?t in their teens
and FlyLady was still a dream
and the only way to stay in touch was via CAT to your e-mail

Oh I wish I was a mumsnetter with flour in my hair
In 98 and 99 revolution was in the air
But it?s now become too big and a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a mumsnetter with flour in my hair

..........

(Oh, and the original lyrics for the next bit are:

When record shops were on top
and vinyl was all that they stocked
and the super info highway was still drifting out in space
kids were wearing hand me downs,
and playing games meant kick arounds
and footballers still had long hair and dirt across their face
)

When chat threads always stayed on top
And contents in them never shocked
Before broadband caused a mad rush in
Of mothers wanting to stay off the gin

Then I'm out....

When little tots went out to shops
and grapes were the only things they scoffed
and the chat was about breastfeeding out in a public space
Kids were wearing Boden gowns,
(and sometimes Mumsnet ?hand-me-downs?)
and chavs were non-existent here,
and swearing a disgrace.
