OK, I've still got a problem. Perhaps it's just me, but what I mean is this:

I go to 'MyMumsnet'.

Then I get 4 options, among which is 'My account'.

I click on this and then I have a box saying 'email address'. Obviously, this box then gives my details.

The box under that says 'Username', and this gives my current username (i.e. trincomalee'). HOWEVER, I cannot then click on this username and change it.

I'm sure I used to be able to do this (i.e. click and change name).

I'm doing something wrong, I know!

Yes, you are.

You need to go to My Registration and change it there.

And then send lovely MNHQ some Pimms for being rude Grin

Now I can see that under 'your nickname history' I can click and find nicknames that I have used (or booked) in the past. BUT I can't see how I can dream up a completely new nickname, if I want to do that.

I'm sure there's a way to do this, and I'm just being dim, aren't I?

Just click in the box with your current username, delete it,mand type in whatever you like. I suggest TechnicallyChallenged Wink

I aren't! Because I didn't ask if IBU.

However, I accept that I might have been just a tad rude. And for that, MNHQ, despite the fact that it's taken me a while to work it out and even though I hate you for making me engage my brain I apologise and proffer Flowers Flowers

AAAND
there is no 'My registration' choice in the Mumsnet box at the top of the page.
Unless I'm going bananas (which is of course quite possible).

Oops, you're right- they've changed it!

My account (you may need to re-log in)

Change name in username box

Re-input password near the bottom.

Click to save.

Then report back!

Report
MmeLindor · 08/07/2013 15:47

They have changed it, but I managed to namechange earlier so it must just be you being rude

Report
Fenton · 08/07/2013 16:37

Okay, I've decided to be helpful now (have had an icecream)

My Account

(you may have to now login again as who you are now)

In the Username box highlight and type over or manually delete and type in a new name

Further down the page you have to put in your password again

Then further down click save.

This should be it. If not trying closing the browser and going back in.

If what you are saying is you can't click in that Username box and tap tap tap delete trincomalee and tap tap type in a new name, then yes you are indeed stuffed and need help from MNHQ.

ohwhatagrumpything · 08/07/2013 16:40

OK, done it (as if you're interested!). It did seem a less straightforward way of doing things, but I guess that was just me being useless.

(And I changed my name to this purely in order to annoy Chaos.)

'yes you are indeed stuffed and need help from MNHQ.'

That's if they'll talk to you.
Or perhaps you are now query number 476,981 and will be dealt with in November.

You do sound very like my teenager, everything is someone else's fault when he can't manage equipment. Grin

Fenton: Where, just WHERE, is my bloody ice-cream, you absolute cow?

AAANNDD I still maintain that the old way was easier.

Not that I am ever against change, and all that. Oh no.
