So how do you win the Mumsnet competition then?

You enter, of course, but then what?
Is it on merit of entries or pick of the draw?

It's very heartening to see lots of mumsnet names that I recognise on the winners page. So it looks like the site isn't swamped by thousands of outsiders just entering the competitions each week. I've won prizes in 3 or 4 competitions over the 2+ years I've been here. One of them was a holiday - yipee! I don't enter the baby prize competitions. The rest I sometimes enter once, or sometimes enter more that once (if I can think of enough mumsnet tips or reviews). I have won when I've entered just the once and not won when I've entered lots of times.

Lots of regulars never seem to enter the competitions, judging by the authors of the parents tips. Some of us - www, bossykate, batey, seem to enter quite a lot

Tigermoth - 3 or 4 prizes?! - that's great: heartening as you say. I don't often enter the competitions, as I don't often find the prizes appealing. I did win a year's subscription to Webland, which the kids love, and has been a godsend for us.

We are planning a trip to Glasgow, so I entered the competition for the hotel several times ... but then when I looked at the website I was horrified ... We couldn't possibly take our boys there! So I was quite relieved (on behalf of the other guests) that I didn't win that one

... Do let us know what it was like when you've been Metrobaby!

Hello,
We randomly pick a winner(s) by picking a number and seeing which review/ tip etc corresponds. So the more times you enter the more chance you have of winning - obviously we also quality check the reviews/ tips so you can't just enter a whole load of rubbish over and over again!

I somehow managed to win twice this month I entered the Glasgow hotel one only once and the JCB one, twice. I've only ever entered about 4 mumsnet competitions in total though (over 1 year). From the reviews I gave, I knew it couldn't be the quality of the reponses that were judged

I've often wondered however how many do enter.

LOL Roisin - DH said it was a shame we had to take the kids cos he scared too !

i've won twice over the last 2 and a half years - but I do tend to send in reviews on everything - the way I found mumsnet was searching for a buggy review so I like to 'repay the favour' for other parents.

HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!! Just checked my home email. WOWOWOWOWWOW! How handy is that going to be. I've been away at the in-laws so hadn't had a chance to check. Then I couldn't log on last night at home!
