Hello Smile

It's the UN International Day of Happiness today so we thought it would be nice to spread a little cheer Mumsnet-wide.

Do please post on this thread stuff to make folks smile, larf, guffaw and rofl. It could be a wry tale, a funny story, a silly idea or a cracking joke - just something that could make make today just that little bit happier for everyone.

I'll go first .

A few days ago, my DS3 said to me, "I love you, Mum... And, this time, I actually mean it." Hmm Grin

Your turn!

Oh sorry I forgot to post something fun - ok well I was walking my dogs this morning and one of them was running through a series of muddy puddles jumping from one solid bit of ground to the next. He misjudged and splatted straight down into a big deep muddy puddle. Once I knew he was ok it was very funny - certainly brightened up 6am!

I have a regular booking to tell stories, so I get to see smiles every week, and get paid for the pleasure!
My life as a storyteller is joyful, I laugh every day.
Joke: what's brown and sounds like a bell?

DD (10 mths) woke up earlier than usual today so I gave her a milk feed and brought her into bed with me instead of putting her back in her cot and dozed off. I've just woken up for breakfast to the sound of baby snoring. Lovely.

Also have a joke:
What has two humps and is found at the north pole? A lost camel.

Ds, 17 weeks, rolled over front to back for the first time this morning.

Twas made more hilarious by the indignant look on his face when he realised his arm was trapped and he couldn't get back again :o

Dog got a feather stuck to his nose and his efforts to get rid of it had us ALL in absolute stitches - managed to face-plant the carpet when he lifted both front paws to wipe his nose and sneezed at the same time.... what a funny little Westie!

One of the funniest things I've ever seen involved my cat as these things often do.

The cat uses the compost bin as a launch pad to get up on the fence. One day DH was clearing up in the garden so he had the lid of the compost bin off. Cat didn't realise this and jumped up as normal... you can guess the rest. The look on her face as she emerged from the bin was priceless, sort of embarrassed and hoping nobody had seen Grin.

Another animal-related one was something I saw in our local town. There's a musical floor thing consisting of small tiles set in the pavement which, when jumped on, play different notes. The kids love it but I've never seen such joy as the day there was a dog playing on it - his owner couldn't get him away, he was so fascinated (dog not owner)!

Funny animals never fail to amuse me .

I've just spent 35 minutes wrapping 4 Land Rover tyres in black plastic parcel wrap. They weigh 21kg each and are a proper maul. If I was watching myself I would have been laughing, it was like World's Strongest Man in reverse with me doubled over, arse hanging out of my jeans turning/wrapping/chasing the bloody things around the garden. Joyful.

I hope no one takes this the wrong way, but we were out at the weekend and my youngest dd who is 5 was on a trip to the loo, she looked at the disabled toilet and said "that's the unstable toilet for people who can't walk very well and need wheelchairs." I did explain to her the proper name, but you can see her logic and it was quite cute.

My 12 month old is making me smile a lot today - particularly when she gives herself a round of applause every time she feels she deserves one.

Today I woke up happy and in really high spirits.

Last night I decided to let go a friendship after months of trying and being miserable.

I no longer have to to try to fit in and accomodate someone's nastiness and small mindedness, just for the sake of social dynamics.

Thank you, you cunt, for reminding me that I need to make myself the focus of my life and not you.

what's green and smells like red paint?

Green paint!

A few weeks after my son started school he told me he had a new friend Henry. He then said there's just one thing I don't like, he keeps saying you're a liar. I was shocked. I waited a few minutes and then probed him a bit about exactly what Henry had said. The answer was the same "you're a liar". Then he said "he also said you were his Mummy's liar".... then the penny dropped. I was his Mummy's lawyer. I laughed so much. It took a while to try and explain it to my son, but we got there eventually!

Happiness is in the heart, not in the circumstances. So have a happy heart everyone whatever your circumstances.
