I've only just mastered posting links on iPhone app, but how do I make the link my own text?

I typed the URL wrong, heh, so it goes to Munsnet...whatever the hell that is..but it's the same as on the regular site:

URL text you want to say

With no spaces between words and the brackets. And you can switch between the App (at least on an iPhone) and a browser to get the URL you want.

I do it the same..but presumably people who are lazy tick the 'convert links automatically' box can't do that? That's what I tried to do up there ^ and it didn't work.

App doesn't have that check box, though.

You need to leave a single space after the last bit of the original URL.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable testing with the entire phrase enclosed in double square brackets should give you testing for example.
